Images for generic badges anywhere?

I need to make some generic badges for one of my clothing items.

Does anyone know where I can get some images - preferably ones that look embroidered - that I can use? Prefer masculine type if possible.

Easiest way is to do a google image search for "military badges", Wendy

No, they won't, especially those not in use anymore such as the WW2 era, Vietnam, etc. They are often enough used in movies and such without any hassle whatsoever.

I believe designs by the US government such as patch insignias are basically always public domain. Their usage can sometimes be restricted, but usage in artwork is fine.

I don't want any images that are specific to countries, just generic images.

I see. Well, just in case, here's a link I found to Navy squadron insignias, as an example. There's a lot of them, could give you ideas if nothing else.

There are quite a few in the fighter squadron categories. Most, if you search that squad number in google will come up as an embroidered patch image, or even simply searching "VFA patch" in google images brings up possibly several hundred different squadron insignias in patch form. Not generic, but really wildly varied.

Unfortunately all of those are American. As many of the people who download my work are from other countries as well as America, and I'm British, I think it best to keep away from specific countries.

Thank you for your help though.:-)

No problem. I completely understand the dilemma, and I only suggested it because there are so many, some are simply a knife, or a wildcat leaping, or an ace of spades with a skull—even though they are American units, they are not obviously so, and they're public domain. But you are right, if you want to avoid any possible connection to real units, you'll need something else.

And just because I came across it and thought it was kind of neat and simple, and has no words, this one is from WWII. :) In any case, hope you find some good stuff.
