I hope you get some to put something together, I really think thematically this challenge fits your render style really well, and I'm very excited to see what you might do. Maybe a dungeon scene that incorporates a waterfall, or some water feature, so that Fluidos might be used as well? Just spitballing, but it would be neat! :)
Very, Very cool!!! Love this!
+1! Awesome looking scene so far!
Did a re-render in double size, which I then scaled down, converted to CMYK, and adjusted brightness and contrast.
( I photoshopped.... something I normally don't do... )
The story is about a missing train from WW2.
It disappeared somewhere in Eastern Europe at the end of the war. Rumors are that it was loaded with stolen artpieces and gold, including the Amber room from the Catherine Palace of Tsarskoye Selo near Saint Petersburg.
Jon, thank you a lot! Yes, it's the same hangar. Happily I saved the scene on my other external HD. I recomposed it and repaired the texture links. But I had to make another alien than the one that was used in the scene that you posted in this thread.
Dart, thank you once again. I'm glad that you like it.
Reposting a few more of my favorites from prior challenges:
For a genius like Headwax with a large body of incredibly impressive work, it's hard to pick a favorite (but I think this one just might be my favorite):
Bytescapes 'Final Advance', a very clean, very cool sci-fi render that would make a great 'outdoors' sci-fi dungeon crawl:
This is a beautiful one done by EvilProducer. Depending on what background music you have playing in your mind when viewing it, this could either be an incredibly peaceful night/nature scene, or could be the ominous setting for an unseen creature, waiting to strike down anyone foolish enough to brave its lair by night. I particularly love the northern lights effect:
Ha! That is very nice of you Stezza, thanks.
Varsel - the train looks great, eager to see where you are going with this.
Stezza, that space scene was just nuts! And all with no postwork. Don't know how you did it, even after inspecting the pics.
Vyusur, so glad you didn't lose everything in the hard drive trouble. Very cute alien.
Alberto, always great to see you entering. So far it looks intriguing. What, no fluid?
Jon, another great batch of renders from the past. When I first saw that render from HW, I knew that 2nd place was the best anyone else could hope for.
I agree, it's very versatile.
Soon !
No, no fluids this time... but the lights are only LightXs !
wowza Stezza straight out of wizard of oz :)
that grainyness in the distance certainly adds even more vitality /mystery to this
hey Alberto, great to see VWD in evidence - you filling that cavern with H2o? :)
thanks! kindness will get you everywhere :)
wonderful to see backstory and narrative - need to click for BIG on this one
here's me in my studio praying to be let out for a surf
Andrew, very impressive! What keeps you inside?
i had a problem with:
https://www.daz3d.com/pharaohs-of-the-sun-for-v4
https://www.daz3d.com/children-of-aten
https://www.daz3d.com/children-of-aten-2
turns out that .mc6 & .ds don't work in carrara.
i had to load the texture maps by hand, and add reflections.
on a v4 with https://www.daz3d.com/v4-elite-texture-marie and some morphs
and save it.
i also saved a file where i had to add rflections and do things by hand:
https://www.daz3d.com/queens-from-the-nile-for-bast-v4
https://www.daz3d.com/bundle-bast-for-v4
https://www.daz3d.com/bast-textures
and v4 and marie shader.
then i imported both file to a new scene with:
https://www.daz3d.com/temple-of-the-pharaohs
https://www.daz3d.com/forgotten-dynasties
a tentcle from:
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/39/start
with changed textures.
and poses fore the v4s based on:
https://www.daz3d.com/sensational-she-freak-v4
v4 general poses
i might haven't used all the products in the final textures.
i also added 4 lights 2 carrara fires and vertex object
with a lot of veloute stuff in the texture for a lightning bolt.
Shlomi
There is a converter that changes the mc6 to pz2 files, check it out.

Looks great !!!!
Excellent - will be hard judging the challenge again this time around.
Wow, this really deserves a click to see the bigger version and appreciate the details. Really looking good, and what a mysterious and tantalizing backstory. I had never heard about this missing train before, sounds really intriguing. I imagine there are treasure hunters still trying to track it down. I hope it gets found, and the mystery explained some day. I love mysterious stuff like this.
Shlomi, you've described your workflow but I don't see the render you're talking about. Don't know if the forums are just acting up and not letting me see or if there was a problem in posting. I'm intrigued by the products you're using, sounds like it will be an egyptian-themed dungeon or tomb? I'm curious to see. :)
LightX has revolutionized my rendering using Carrara native, it's the only way to fly when it comes to lighting for me!
Wow! That's amazing, great emotion expressed by the subject, the volumetric lighting is tremendous, the whole piece really feels like a painting from one of the classic masters. Just wow.
Darn nice renders, all! Wow!
still working on final lighting.
indirect lighting makes test renders slow.
imo is better to manyally load texture maps if there are only poser or ds shaders
i usually oick a carrara shader preset i like, apply it first,
then copy the texture maps over to carrara shader folders, then load the texture and bump mats from there.
oh Vincent lives underground, people living in old subway tunnels
very good... nice to see you showed a waft of smoke from the bushfire at yours also.... genious...
