Browser Pro here?
Help! I am getting very frustrated with my new version of FireFox. It won't play anything that requires Adobe Flash, like short video clips on the Foodnetwork. Now I can't upload any zips to be tested because they don't start downloading. I can browse to them on my computer but they don't start loading. I had to go to my old Window 7 and use Internet Explorer to make it work.
I wanted to check on my .04 of a BitCoin but my wallet wanted me to check my email for authorization. I never got an email so support wants me to fill out a 2 factor authorization. I used FireFox but it won't let me hit 'continue' when I'm done. I got it work in Google Chrome but by then I get an error message that there's already a 2 factor authorization pending....argh.
I want to pull my hair out. This is affecting every part of my online activity. It's not just these few things that I mentioned but loads more instances.
I updated Adobe Flash but still didn't help.
I want to move everything to my new computer but it's worse than my old computer.
Any ideas that might help?

Some people are using Waterfox as a replacement for Firefox, though I gather that it is essentially one developer using a fork of Firefox so how well that will go once the two diverge remains to be seen. Pale Moon is another fork of Firefox, from further back, but it does seem to be a group rathr than one person. In any event, I believe that the profile used by Firefox has recently (56?) changed so that other, older, forks can't read it so you will lose settings (bookmarks can be exported and impiorted into a new browser; stoed passwords and the like I think not).
I would use google chrome. Sadly Firefox has not been staying up to date with growing trends and is no longer considered a modern browser.
If you didn’t get the email from support check your spam filter in your account and see if it is there. If you are a Comcast user I have had reports of people are having issues with their accounts receiving email. Sometimes it is best to open a gmail account for use if your email address isn’t working.
If you have signed up for multifactor verification you may already have gotten a reset account sent to either an email or phone. I would check for text and your spam filter to make sure you don’t have the verification tokens sent there.
Thanks both. I tried changing my settings by removing 'prevent popup windows' to see if it would help but it doesn't. When I have used Chrome I haven't been too impressed by it and it had it's own issues with uploading to pass a while back. Well, it's probably more that you get used to one browser and it's hard to change. I still like IE but it's what I grew up on. I only went to FireFox within the last few years and now I'm used to it. This last update stinks though. I can't stand the new bookmarking system. If you only visit 7 sites then it's great but I'm all over the place. It's not expedient to me the way it is now.
Guess that I'll give Chrome a go. I'll have to install it on this computer. It's on the old one but not my new. All of this is making it difficult to switch computers. I have to find something that works. I'm surprised that I seem to be the only one with issues...and on two different computers.
Oh, and about the email authorization that I never got. This is what I think has happened: I have two email friends who can no longer email me because Yahoo has decided that they are spam and blocks them before they get to me. I think that it has done the same with Blockchain. I have spoken with AT&T twice about this and they say it's Yahoo and nothing they can do about it. I filled out a form for one of my friends and now she can email me at one of my addresses but not my work address. I tried to get the form for my other friend but I can't get the form anymore through FF or IE. Maybe I'll try Chrome. I would have switched to Comcast but I heard that they were having the same issues. Why can't they let me decide what's spam and what isn't. How do I know who else they've blocked? I don't and that bothers me.
Serene Night, just noticed your last comment. I do have an old gmail account. I found it clunky and hard to use but maybe it will be more up to date than from back when I opened it. Perhaps they'll let me create a new gmail account.
if the message is in your spam mail it has been determined to be spam. You can select it and mark it as not spam. I would try using chrome and gmail and see how it works. I would avoid Comcast. It is unfortunate but the place I work for... Comcast users frequently have trouble getting password reset emails from us. Comcast sensitivity threshold is too high and it filters too much.
Gmail is pretty much the standard right now so I would make a new account and see if you like it.
I use Waterfox myself. Its currently the same as FF 56.
Its features:
mattymanx, I have no idea what any of that means, lol. I'll look at Waterfox, though. I just want something that works.
Serene, no, I'm not receiving the authorization emails at all. they never get to me...not in spam folder. I believe that Yahoo is blocking them like they blocked my two friends.
I sent an email to Blockchain asking them to resubmit my 2 factor authorization and I got an email back so I think that's what they did. It's a form letter so nothing personal written in it. Same as the first one that Jade sent. I'll use chrome this time so that I know it will work.
I did create a new gmail account yesterday. I'm going to use that as my new catch all email address and drop the sbcglobal one I've had for almost 20 years.
Thanks again for all the feedback. I didn't mean to sound so grumpy yesterday but I was feeling so defeated by everything that happened at once.
The NPAPI plugins that are going away from Chrome & Edge too.
