Several times tonight DAZ 4.5 just freezes up. I get a Fatal Error and the entire computer freezes as well. I have to shut it off. This has never happened before ever. Does anyone know how to stop this?

I've had some trouble with this. Seems to have occurred since I've loaded a morph package for genesis. When I use these morphs in a scene it seems to cause the software to quit.

32 or 64 bit? What are you doing at the time, if it's consistent?

64 bit. It's a new computer I bought last August. This has never happened before until now.

It keeps happening when I try to do a certain render. I don't get why the whole computer freezes up as well.

Check how much memory DS uses during the render. I've seen DS chew 20GB RAM when I had a render with a lot of reflections, refractions and glass and a high trace level.

There can also be a problem with a certain shader that does something to 3Delight that is not very good (seen that too).

Best way is to binary search down what the problem is.

Save a copy of the scene, then delete half and render. If it doesnt crash remove the other half. Continue until you know what crashes.
If it doesn't crash on either half, you are probably out of RAM.

I think I found the problem. The program was freezing up whenever I used any of Easy Environments sets. So I uninstalled them and then reinstalled them, and now it seems to be fine. Unfortunately, the saved scene files I had still cause the computer to freeze up if I try to do a render, but any newly created scenes don't.
