Oh? Didn't expect it to be complicated to rig. I just thought transfer and good to go. Shows what I know laugh

Same here. Still, I think it would be worth learning for such fabulous lashes! lol

So use them in a promo, such as your main.  Its not like the hair and clothes are included either.  But just use it for your fancy renders and not the rest.  Just add it to the products used list.

I'm with Silver and bluejaunte on this, I would feel like it's false advertising to use it in a promo for a character and it's not included with the character - even if I put a disclaimer at the bottom of the promo. :)

Im a sucker for pretty i bought them anyways lol. Time to start adding some artsy promos into the mix then so i can pretend i didnt just buy them cause they are pretty and girly lol XD I would love as a MR but really think they are fantastically well done and am happy just to have some nice lashes for my gals :D

I´m sorry for not being more present in the thread, things went nuts at home just during the release, but everything´s in order now :)

Mattymanx, I saw your PM, glad you figured it out. One of the issues between genereations I guess :P

As a vendor, all things MR are extra shiny for me too! So I understand the need for buying products as investment. I would like this to be MR. Actually that was my initial idea for my products under the "Utilities" name, But  I wasn´t sure how to deal with the fact that these are geometry and the adittional steps to rig them, which could be confusing for the vendor. It´s not a regular rigging to avoid distortions, because fiber lashes are very delicate in such a complicated area and they esily distort in a normal rigging. I guess I could leave instructions for that despite the vendor will surely understand just by looking at how they are made.

I will take a look at similar MR products like the one Phoenix1966 referenced and consult with DAZ, I would be happy to update the product description and let you know if I get a good way to do it! :D

Thank you very much for the comments and interest, I appreciate it a lot! heart

I'm crossing my fingers, but realize it might not be possible. THANK YOU for considering it and looking into it. It's more than I expected (just goes to show, it doesn't hurt to ask lol). I understand though if making it a MR wouldn't be possible. Either way, it's nice of you to look into it! :D

  • I don't know. Everything would be false advertising unless the character was advertised bald, necked and in a T-pose and in a scene with no lights or scenery, lol

I'm with @ALLIEKATBLUE . It doesn't seem quite rational to consider lashes in a different category than hair, clothes, shoes, scenery, figures, and brows. Not to mention the other resources used in scens and promos.

  • bluejauntebluejaunte Posts: 1,902

It's quite different IMO because clearly lashes are part of the character. Now of course you could say, hair is part of the character too. It's part of a human, sure. But in Daz world it's widely accepted that hair is a separate thing like clothes, but every character comes with its own lashes. I guess the same category would be eyebrows. They are a major part of the face, I can't show promos with fibremesh eyebrows that aren't included. I mean, of course I can but I would find that misleading as that can change the look of the face quite a bit. It's also simply a question of what I gain by using these lashes in my promos? Not much I think unless they're included and make the product more desirable vs. just making a promo slightly better, with a high chance of not affecting sales one way or the other but a slightly higher chance to create confusion.

I could use them on one promo and clearly state something along the lines of 'here is how it looks with Lash Utilities' or something. If it doesn't become a full merchant resource maybe a kind of preset system could work? Like PA's could distribute just a preset that people who own the product could use to get the same result or something. If it's all just a bunch of morphs it could possibly be a shaping preset?

Well to be fair i have taken to showing a promo image using fibrebrows to show the 'no brow' texture i include works with the various fibre brows that are out there. Who knows perhaps we can include 'presets' to work with the lashes even if they arent a merchant resource for people who DO own the set as some sort of bonus? Ive not installed yet gotta finish shopping for the baby (i may be going overboard) but will see if thats possible option. Either way I couldnt pass them up they are just too awesome!

Ah yeah, to show a no brow option. Good point.

I wonder what could cause the instruction images not show to some people. I tested them in 4.5, 4.9 and current version in Mac and PC.

In any case I am attaching them here, there are really not that much info needed to use the product. The important part directs the user to select the lashes and not the base section before applying presets and shapes. What you see in the scene tab is just a base, the lashes are rigged to it, so it`s easy to forget to expand it and select the actual lashes. :)

Speaking as a customer, I would find it misleading if these were used in promo images.
The precedent until now has been that hair and clothing are not included with the figure,
but everything else on the body is.
If I buy a figure, I expect it to come with what is shown - eyebrows, eyelashes, textures,
etc. I don't expect to have to scroll down to see what is included, unless I am interested
in the hair or clothing as separate purchases.
Buying a figure with eyelashes in the promos that aren't included with the product would
be like buying one with eye colors or makeup, tattoos, etc that were shown but not
    included.
    No thanks.

I'd forgotten I'd bought this; love how they look.

I wont be going mapped to transmapped hair.

Any chance these autofit to G1?  I know that's not what it was designed for, but I'm always on the lookout for possible additional G1 options.

  • As long as it's noted on the actual picture and there is at least one good picture of the lashes that are actually included with the character, I would have no problem with these lashes used in a promo.

    Believe me I tried, and I´m sad I wasn´t able to :(

If I ever find out how can I make them work on Genesis, I will update them to include them. I don´t know if there is something in Genesis rigging that prevents them to properly rig, but it certainly doesn´t work as Genesis 2,3 and 8.

Someone told me he would like to have the Clockwork preset on both eyes (it was one eye only since it was inspired in certain movie).

So here it is. Just drop the files along the other presets :)

  • Nearly forgot to buy this! The multi generation and gender support made it a must.

  • By the way, are the fibres on the beanie in the main promo image a post-edit creation, or is there a super wooly hat shader out there?

    Thank you! :D

Those are FiberMesh fibers made for the image. I'd share, but unfortunately, they only cover the visible area and are not functional :/

  • Thanks for the info. It was worth doing as it really enhanced the realism in the image. Some excellent 3D work there.

The characters in your promos look like people, even if fantastical ones. It's frustrating being at the stage of rendering 3D models that look like plastic models. A long way to go, but encouraged.

I love this product, Hellboy. Thank you.

Question: Any way to get the lashes to rotate? They're not quite fitting and I'm a perfectionist.

  • Hey Guys,

Really need your help! I'm trying to apply the lashes but they are not showing in Daz on my figure? I can see all of the selections in my product libary but the figures eyelashes are just staying the same. I'm applying 'shape' I cant see anything that states its a morph?

    Thanks!
