Smart Content Woes

So has anyone encountered this... I seem to have two Victoria 5 icons in my Smart content tab.  Both are identical in content, but they have different Global ID and one has Metadata, the other doesn't.

Anyone know how I can fix this?

Also, why when I install all new content through DIM, do the items show up with the Install Icon in the corner as if they need to be installed again?

    The best way to remove duplicates from Smart Content is to right click on the tab, and the select "Content DB Maintenance"

    Firstly export your user meta data (if you have any), then reset the database, followed by reimporting all the metadata again from the stuff you have installed. The whole process should take around 5 mins.

    Basically I used the Content Editor method (don't know what else to call it).  IE - In the Content Library, I set the appropriate categories, Create a Product From and then used the Content DB Editor to assign the meta, etc.  The item then shows up in Studio/My Library/Runtime/Support and I give it a proper icon image and voila - the item shows up in Smart Content panel like any DAZ Product.

    So would I lose all of these custom items?

    Best thing is to start by exporting your user data. It creates a file called UserData_1.dsx which represents your metadata. The file is stored in your runtime in Runtime/Support

    Open this file, and ensure it has the meta data that you set up yourself. If you are happy, then take a copy of the file and proceed with the database rebuild. The final step of this will be to re-import all your metadata, including the user defined stuff. This should restore everything, but please don't sue me if it doesn't!

    Ok, so all of my custom content seems to be in tact and working but once again, Victoria 5 showing up as a duplicate with the install triangle.  Strange.

    Hmm, very odd. Did you reset the database, or just did a re-import the metadata?

     If you look in your UserData_1.dsx does this contain anything for Victoria 5?

    One other thing, did you install Victoria 5 maybe using both DIM and Daz Connect?

    Yes, I reset the DB, then re-import meta as you instructed.  I have always just installed through DIM, but under the install tab in Daz there are 241 products that want to be installed again through Daz Connect apparently, Victoria 5 included.  But I do see that some of these items are not showing up in Smart Content pane even though they were originally installed through DIM.

    See if you can de-install V5 using DAZ Connect.

    Also it is worth connecting into DAZ Connect every now and then, even if you install everything with DIM, since it will update a lot of the metadata you have to apply additional fixes not yet rolled out to the DIM zip files.

    I am not seeing anyway to uninstall through DAZ connect.  What if I uninstall through DIM?  Would V5 still show up as a product to install through Daz Connect?

    I thought you could install via Connect regardless of whether you had, or had not, installed the same product through DIM, although it is a bad idea to install the same with both.

    You could always try and uninstall V5 via DIM and then reinstall (again with DIM), to see if that gets rid of the duplicate, but I am not sure it will.

    Probably the best idea, see if they can come up with some more suggestions

    So, I did open a ticket.  But I also recently noticed that only some of my custom LOCAL_USER content is searchable by Artist.  Really strange.

    So does anyone have a lot of experience with creating their own metadata and custom content.  IE - making third party items show up in Smart Content?

    I had things working pretty good, but after trying to fix this duplicate DAZ items issue (which didn't work) I know have an issue where the only third party content that is searchable now is my items by AlfaSeed/AeonSoul.  I can select the artist name or search by artist and all items show properly in Smart Content search.  Any other third party items won't show even if I select the artist from Info tab of that item itself.

    The only thing I can think of now is that maybe there are duplicate Global IDs or something.  I don't know.  I have even tried selecting one of the items and editing the metadata again, just saving it and overwriting the old one in Runtime/Support.  Still not working.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
