  • cant' reallly speak to the viability for your use, and i don't do mocap currently.

but IPi software does have a couple free trials you might give a whirl

they used to have direct to daz studio, but i don't know if or what it's useble with today.

  • There's also Brekel, but they have two versions for 2 different versions of Kinect.

I can tell you that you will need a large empty room and 1000 watts of lights to get a good capture, otherwise the post-capture cleanup will be so intense that you may as well have done it by hand.

You will also need a adapter for windows which costs quite some money. I got Perception Neuron and Kinect for Mocap. Some program which let's you import your figures and record live with kinect would be Iclone with the Mocap Plugin. But yea, that's alot of money.

Here's the adapter you would need for windows:

  • How is the Perception Neuron rig? I saw a YouTube review where the guy said it basically cannot be used anywhere near anything electrical, and the left arm nodes blew out.

It's better than Kinect but it's still strongly capped in capabilities. Don't expext nothing near Motion Capture Studio like. The arm is a import issue. My work around advice is to use Motionbuilder from Autodesk and retarget the animation. Clean up the mocap and import it. Map the bones fitting. You have a animation shell imported which you can use to add legs and arms manually afterwards. Motionbuilder uses Z-rotation on arm bones which are normally not used in Daz.

i have a xbox 360 kinect with an adpator i downlaoded a free trail of brexil but it dont work on genesis 3 - genesis 8 barely works on genesis and gen 2 could be the kinect but when i do the brexil face it works find but there only allow 4 seconds on free trail so its hard to tell if its work putting the money in for :/

That's too much extra money and work for my tastes. May as well do it manually.

Are you using it with iClone or as a standalone rig? I've got iClone and almost jumped on the special they were running a while back, but to do what I want, I need two of the 32-neuron rigs.

no i just want render in daz studio iv been playing with animtions but takes a long time manully from some XD

  • I haven't tried Brekel myself yet. Don't really have enough floor space for motion capture with the Kinect yet. I've done minor tests with it and Poser GameDev, but that's when I realized I need 1000 watts of lights to get good separation from the background.
