More Iray ShaderQuestions

Hi!
I'm back again...
With more questions. (Sick of me yet?) I may just turn this one thread into my many Q&A thread and just change the title as I go. Not sure yet, if that's the best way to not flood the forum with my ignorance and a dozen threads. Not sure of the best way to be a pest.
OK...
So my question is about creating content.
Right now, the only way I know to get the Iray options is to use the "Uber base" thing If I were to make my own shaders for distribution, would I be allowed to use that Uber thing first? Or is there another way to get those options? Thanks. :)

The Iray Uber Base is what you use to make Iray shader presets, yeah. It comes with the DS default content so anyone who has DS can use it.
Ok, thanks..
OK... I'm still confused.
Shader and Shader Presets. So...? Yeah, even as I try to ask, I can't figure out how to ask my question. OK... So, is it possible to make "Shaders" myself? Or is it only possible to make "shader presets"? I'm not really understanding.
Shaders are the actual code that tells the renderer how the material works. So things like the Uber Shader, and the basic 3Delight shader, are shaders. Shader presets are presets that tell the shader what textures and settings to use, so things like this with different colors and textures that use the Uber Shader as a base: https://www.daz3d.com/homestyle-iray-shaders
People colloquially call the latter "shaders" but it isn't accurate so I try not to.
You can make your own shaders in Shader Mixer but I think what you want is to make presets.
Well, I kinda want to explore the whole kit and kaboodle...LOL
Ok... So I went here:

and downloaded a bunch of .mdl files from NVIDIA. How do I check them out in DS?
I have those too, they are great.
To do it yourself you would have to make them into shaders in Shader Mixer.

But there is also someone who has put together settings for them already.

To edit mdl files themselves to make completely new shaders you will have to use a text editor (which I cannot help with, I am clueless on the language), or get an editor. The only one I know of is Substance Designer.
Thanks again, Agent!! You're a Superhero!
OK... I'll prolly be back!
THANK YOU!
