Materials/Shader Compatibility?

I've been thinking of releasing new freebies after so long that I haven't, but now I'm wondering if people will be able to use them at all. I've stuck with DS 1.5 for a long time, fairly satisfied with it for my needs; but seeing mostly that my stuff are textures, I'm wondering if materials exported from an older version would work on newer versions? If anyone can also provide help on converting materials for use in Poser, that'd be great and very much appreciated as well. :)

Settings should work, scene files won't as later versions of DS mis-read the UVs from 1.5 (unless the scene is first opened and saved in DS2).

There were changes made to the DAZ|Studio default materials between 1.n and 2.0: my Noir Toon shaders on SCG were made in--and for-- D|S 1.8, and come out very different in 2+, largely because of the way specularity is handled. But all they are is settings for the default shaders. Mapped materials work as long as the maps do. Dialspun shaders for the specific Plastic/Skin/Matte/Metallic/Glossy/Toon shaders that used to be offered in the old Freestuff need an extra download package to work in DS3 and will not work in DS4. Materials based on the DS Default Shader (with the Lighting Model selection in the Surfaces tab) should work with any version of DAZ|Studio: I still use Lakys' metals (made in DS1.n, I believe) in DS4.5 with no ill effects.

Thank you for the informative replies. I guess they should work then. :)
