DS not sending mat files

I use DS mostly for posing models to export as objects to use in Bryce. Up untill now it's been working fine, but for some reason it will export the model but not export any material files for the model. Is there a way to fix this, what could cause this to happen and will I have to delete and reinstall DS to fix the problem. Any and all help is appreciated! I don't use Poser at all so DS is all I have. Need to learn more about using DS as my rendering app too but am old and set in my ways, wish there was a book on using DS, too much trouble going back and forth to PSD to find the fix's and how to's to enable me to do what I want to do. Thanks again for your help!!!

  • Is it all models or only some that are losing their materials? If only sime, it may be a consequence of the way the maerials are set-up (specifically, which shader they use and what properties it has).

  • Are you referring to the MTL file or actual maps?

    you may just need to check the export settings and make sure the "Write material library", and since you're working in bryce the check box for "convert maps(for bryce) is also ticked.

     

    while i haven't tested it, as i don't use bryce and don't export as much anymore, you may need to apply 3delight shader settings as some exports don't always do right with iray shaders applied.

    at least they didn't used to.

  • Hmm, that is odd. If no one else chips in with a suggestion you may need to open a support ticket, though you could edit the first post heer to move this thread to the Bryce forum.
