Upgrade to 4.10 on Mac?

So I am on Sierra (Not High Sierra).  Has anyone had any issues with the latest update?  I usually hold off awhile on updating anything.  Always afraid of things going bad.

  • I normally update as soon as it's out and have had no trouble with High Sierra yet.

I have also got the latest version for my mac mini (ie High Sierra), indeed I have to have the latest version if you want to use XCode, which is the main app I use to create my IOS games.

I had been noticing that my mac mini with just 4GB of RAM had been getting slower and slower with each update, and became very slow when I upgraded to High Sierra. As such I finally got round to buying it some more RAM and upgrading it to 16GB. It now runs very fast (better than ever before in fact), and so I am very happy with it.

So in short, it looks like the memory requirements of High Sierra are higher than previous versions, but as long as you have 8GB or more, you should be fine.

I should add that I only use my mac mini to build my IOS apps, I do all my 3D work, plus the bulk of my other programming work, on my Windows PC.

Sorry, actually I was more concerned about upgrading DAZ from 4.9 to 4.10 on Sierra.  Wondering if anyone has encountered any problems with it.

I am not looking to upgrade to High Sierra just yet.  I do have an 8-core Mac Pro with 64Gb or RAM, so I am sure it will be fine, but I am holding off until High Sierra has had a few more updates and bug fixes.

I have v4.10 running on a couple Macs (2013 era Macbook Pro and 2017 Macbook Pro). I skipped Sierra and went straight from OSX 10.9.5 to High Sierra and haven't had any issues other than Daz crashing on quit...always. Daz still crashes on quit if I'm working in "offline mode", but does so much faster. cheeky

I have had that happen when I am still logged in to the store open quitting.  On my Mac, it takes forever to log out of the store and the program will crash if it doesn't log out succesfully.  I tend now to log in when I am buying something, installing something, or updating something; otherwise, I am logged out.  The program quits flawlessly under those circumstances.

4.10 on High Sierra since they came out. No issues so far.

I'm running Sierra (because I wouldn't be able to use some of my other programs with High Sierra) and haven't had any problems with the latest update. The only thing is that annoying crash-on-quit problem that the others have mentioned. I've had that happen with the past several updates, though, and it was a problem long before I upgraded to Sierra. I think it's been at least a year since that started happening for me.

I'm running High Sierra with no prolbems.  I was going to wait on 4.10, but had to play with dForce.

I'm on a 2016 iMac with 16 GB of DRAM fwiw.

Thanks all. Updated DAZ to 4.10 last night.  So far so good.  Merry Christmas to everyone that celebrates it today!

Hmmm. That never would have occurred to me. I’ll give that a try. Thanks for the suggestion!
