I'm both, so I have to share this awesome video! Astronaut Chris Hadfield has recorded "Space Oddity" - in actual space. How cool is that?

Don't know how to embed the video - sorry.

Yeah, I saw this on Sky News this morning. He's become a sort of international icon because of the cool things he does in space. I saw a clip where he demonstrated how tears (from your eyes) behave in space. It was pretty amazing.

He seems to have that rare ability to explain complex things in simple terms and make them interesting to the average person.

True, he's great. I've been following him on Twitter - he's done all sorts of cool experiments.

Commander Chris Hadfield has done a great job making the the ideas of space travel accessible to the average person. He's Canadian, and practically a national hero around here. The school kids have been following him closely as well. He's going to inspire a whole generation to pursue science and scientific endeavors. Supposedly his son Evan helped to come up with the idea to do the video, I don't know if it'll go viral , but it's still pretty cool.

I love how someone in the comment is suggesting that he has to go further away next time, to record "Life on Mars", LOL!

Look for the one where he wrings out a soaked washcloth. The behaviour of the water is downright boggling.

Paraphrasing someone else's tweet: He's an astronaut, he sings and plays the guitar, and he's got a mustache. Us mere mortal men may as well give up now... :)

More seriously, he's doing more to popularize science and scientists than anyone since Carl Sagan. This is a good thing. IMHO.

I see he got down safe and sound : http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/story/2013/05/13/hadfield-chris-space-iss-soyz-earth.html

It will probably take him a lot longer to get home to Canada from Kazakhstan :-)
