Happy ME!!
So, right now I am so happy and surprised, I just had to come in and share!!!
Ok...
I started out this adventure with an error message in Daz Studio when I tried to follow the dForce tutorial. It kept saying, "Could not find a valid OpenCL device."
So, I came in here to ask about it:
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/219446/opencl-device-dforce-problem#latest
Everything I tried... Updating my driver, installing the SDK, asking in the AMD forum for help did nothing to get dForce to work for me and I thought I would just have to wait to get a new video card.
But I had a new problem, the new driver ERASED my software that came with my original driver and left me with bare bones diagnostics. I couldn't calibrate my monitor.

I was distraught to say the least!!
But then I stumbled on to a page that was listed as "Previous" drivers for my card on the AMD website. I decided to try it. It gave me back the ability calibrate my monitor...YAY!!
But then, I saw something that said "Legacy" for my driver. It was the same driver I had installed before and was the most current one for my system. So, I decided to try to install it without letting it install the "New" (Nothing but diagnostic) software suite, hoping it would let me keep my old software so I could still calibrate my monitor but still have the latest update.
It worked!!! I can still calibrate my monitor.... but even more amazing and completely beyond my understanding, dForce works NOW!!! WooHOOO!
I don't get it. When I first installed this driver, it did nothing and took away everything I liked in my software...
But... Somehow, now IT WORKS!!! I ran through the steps in the dForce tutorial and a message popped up saying something about kernels and did I want DS to fix it,and I was like...
YES!!!! Next thing I was watching the simulation happen!! WOOHOO!!!!
LOOK! I can't believe this worked out!!! But, I am so HAPPY right now!!

Excellent!
Thanks, Simon!
Yay for misadventures with a happy ending :)
Thanks, Silent!!
Is your new baby here yet? Boy or girl? How's your wife doing?
hahah I'm glad it worked out! Congratulations and happy simulating!
Thanks, Divamakeup!!
I'm glad everything came together for you - and have fun playing with dForce!
Thanks, namffuak! I'm looking forward to it, for sure!!
There's no logic behind software anymore. There used to be back when a single person wrote the whole thing, but now it's just design by committee and AI, and luck of the draw. Too many variables.
Well, I know VERY little about coding, pc specs, etc. And because I'm sort of ignorant about such things, I'm always following some white rabbit!! LOL. I'm just so happy... and kind of amazed!! It's been a long week trying to get something usable! Weird! But, I'll take it!
Baby's here (nearly 2 weeks old now) - mum and baby girl both doing fine, thanks :)
Been busy ;) but worth it :)
Still got time to mess in blender/DS while baby sleeps though :)
That is wonderful news!! Congratulations!!
I've done nothing except try to figure out my video card situation! LOL. I have begun the scene I was contemplating, though. I will be sure to share it when it is finished...but I'm a slow "artER" LOL So... maybe a month. Ha! Thank you again. The chariot is perfect!
Looking (patiently) forward to it :)
