My 2018 Workflow

Okay, so I've heard about people here talking about their "workflow", and I was kinda jealous cuz I don't really have one. Other than just do stuff and hope it works.

So now it's the end of 2017 I figured I'd spend the holidays cleaning up my mess and try to figure out some sort of workflow like the cool people have. And also make sure all my export/import paths are cleaned up and automated as much as possible for the new year.

So I finally decided to sit down and draw out all the apps I use and how the work with the other apps. Geez, what a mess. Turns out I have 10 apps that I use regularly to do various parts of this 3D stuff.

Anyway, below is my new workflow. The solid arrows are the areas where two apps are closely integrated and automated. The dashed ones are where I basically save files to a folder and manually import/export. And the smaller dashed arrow between Blender and D|S is where I have the most work, to find a way to integrate and automate the materials between the two apps.

And I'm also trying to move away from my old Photoshop version (CS4) which I don't intent to update, and instead I'll try Gimp since it seems to be the most popular alternative and most likely to continue development. On the other hand the latest betas seem to be very crash-prone.
