What new environmental construction kit?
is it free !
Me like...
New goodies that are to be revealed???
one can only hope:-)
Northeast Wisconsin accent intended for the above, backwater statement
is it free !Not the kit, but I'm planning on a series of tutorials that will be - and they'll be available here, in the Carrara forum. If only TIME was available for purchase... and it was affordable.... what a dreamer. :blank:
Looks good!
If we're going with Wisconsinisms, then youse needs to add more trees. Welp, I'm thirsty. Off to the bubbler. Uffda! I think I want a pop instead!
Just trying my hand at surface replicators. Never posted, but value the info I get from reading the forums.
nice viewpoint David, interesting glow around the island
One of Fenric's FORGOTTEN FOUR
I took a break from my space animation and thought I'd do a character. I didn't like the last 2/3 to 1/4 of the Hobbit, but I thought Cate Blanchet(sp?) was radiant as Galadriel in Imladris, so I wanted to see if I could capture even a little of that radiance. Here's my attempt:
Dat dare looks... oh, knock it off Dart!
Like the heart Island! Very cool!
Holly, what do you mean? Awesome shot!
EP, very good likeness. Fantastic!
Fenric made a plugin that uncovers hidden primitives that have been in the Carrara code all along but no way to inset them in a scene.... He's doing a contest at Carrara Cafe (FORGOTTEN FOUR link in my sig)
These trees are looking really good. This more of your environment kit?
Yeah, I missed the info about Fenric, till just now. Bummer.
...and Yes, a shot at part of the kit
Wisconsinisms? That sounds more like Newfoundland, Canada!
Take off hoser! (for the record, nobody says that anymore; I doubt most Canadians even remember it)
Very nice images!
This is a cross-post from the Space Ideas thread; but I really like how it turned out and wanted to share it with a wider audience. Tips of the cap to Holly for the photoreal sun shader and the Flaming Pear PhotoShop plug-ins and to Dartanbeck for Starry Skies.
Cool render Brah!
Here's some shots of the same preset scene, using the default film cameras using the default test-render settings, but playing around with sun placement and cloud variations. But the preset is all made, rather quickly - using the kit:

looks good
Ho! Wonderful renders! :)
This looks like great stuff. Now please tell me the render times are quicker than Howie Farkes wonderous work...
Here is mine :-)
This is the full size (look out slightly nudity)

WIP- test on indoor lighting and shader editor in C8
My first 8.5 render :)
Full Size Image here: Forest Temple
good job !
Thanks, Howie F convinced me to focus more on environments, and less on characters. ;-) (unbeknownst to him)
I would like to get a ground layer of mist around the temple, and maybe some mist coming out of it....but one step at a time.
Mine is slightly nude-y too, lol.
Created for Fenric's "Forgotten Four" challenge.
Afternoon Tea
Ho! Wonderful renders! :)
This looks like great stuff. Now please tell me the render times are quicker than Howie Farkes wonderous work...That's actually the whole intention. I love Howies products, I really do. That's why I collect them all.
This is made for smaller scenes where you'd like a Carrara-realistic environmental background or scene. Granted, using the kit, you can easily build a scene the takes just as long, or even longer. But the intention is mainly to give some easy, yet high quality assets and tools, along with some good presets to get you started.
THanks Dartanbeck.
Yes, quick renders are what I look for. The more mistakes you can make per hour, the betterrererer you eventually get :)
I have plenty of Howie's scenes... great stuff they are too, but I never use them because of render times....
Something for Emperor Ken's contest that I cannot tell you about because of the forum rules....
Title: "Carcere intra carcerem."
Software: Carrara and Photoshop Elements
Very cool!
Great render!
Thanks ;) !
Too right mate!
I've been working all day on using PhilW's Realistic Seas with the Medusa (at long bloody last). I'm making lighting tweaks but can't quiiiiiite get what I'm after...but the render (even at low settings) takes nearly an hour.
The server will be chewing all night on a big, higher-quality scene...even though I'm not 100% pleased yet.
try this for a lighting setup (pinched from a how to video i saw on utoob
4 different distant lights point 45 degree down on the cardinal points of the compass - make them say 35percent illumination, slight tinge of blue, say 40 percent shadows
group them
duplicate them and invert so they are pointing up, no shadows for this one, make them say 15 percent illumination - they are the reflection from the ground so make them a warm brown
then add your last distance light pointing down towards whatever direction you want say 80 percent illumination, 100 percent shadows - this is your primary light source - ie the sun
vary the amounts of illumination and percent of shadows and colours in both groups to taste
no soft shadows at all - will render much more quickly than most setups
