Thank you Garstor. I have used three spot lights for the desk, ceiling and one for the top, and I am also using three distant lights at 60% with yellow-ish color for the whole scene, any advice? Here is the light position on the scene....

I'm far from being a lighting guru...but I'd start with some soft shadows for the main spot above the kiosk display -- it looks like most of the shadows are coming from there.

With that main spot selected, on the Effects tab you'll find the checkbox for Enable Soft Shadows. Try it with the default light radius and then increase that value just a little bit and try another render...see which comes out nicer. If you go too far with the light radius, you won't see any shadow (or maybe just the faintest of fuzzy blurring...).

Please forgive if this thread has turned out in a "lesson" one to me, but I am happy learning from experts like you.

    Thank you!

No problem. It's a render thread, but it's also meant to be a place to share tips and tricks as well. Everybody can contribute something, even if it's just inspiration for somebody looking at your picture.

Thanks, there is a thread where can I ask for specific questions about modeling, rendering, mapping et al?

As Garstor mentioned there is the Carrara Cafe, but to be honest, at this point, you're most likely to get a speedier response here in the Carrara discussion forum. You can always post a new topic with a a question you have, or you could look at some of the tutorials in the stickied threads at the top of the forum page.

I can see a lot of errors and possible improvements on it, but I think I park it and move on....

Gorgeous! Man, those tree roots really turned out great. But the whole scene is really nice. Great job, Varcel!

I did it, and it solved it, probably needs some more improvements, but I like these details added to the previous model.

    Here the last result:

I really like this. You've got the billboard cut-out people and a busy background, with a sort of mocked up stage, which all goes nicely towards the fact that the center piece is where we want to look. You've done a really nice job on the shader for the stainless steel posts. Keep up the great work!

    Is this place still here?!?

I have been absolutely murdered at work the past month or so. But I have been making some Pixors....

We may nap from time to time, but, yeah... still here - alive and kickin'
Welcome home to Carrara Render thread, thanks again for the mysterious, scary renders!

Thanks to everybody for the very nice comments!

Varsel, your picture is very cool! Really nice job on the trees!

Regarding my image, it's volumetric clouds and a realistic sky. To help the sky look better, I also placed a deep blue color in the Scene's background.

Edited to add: I think it was 3Dage that gave that tip in a thread long ago! Thanks Andy!

Not sure... Can he talk cars or does he sit in Starbucks all afternoon pretending to write the next great American novel? ;-)

Seriously though, you always do a wonderful job on creating unique looking characters!

eyebrows look great! did yiou use carrara hair for the beard as well?
    amazing!

as for the aging, it's pretty subtle,
maybe increase the naso labial fold crease depth and a few smiley lines around the outside of the eyes, - if you want him to be a smiley kinds dad ?

as an aside, in real life if his corneas were so exposed by those bottom lids being so low he would have red eyes and a dry eye problem ;)

Here's the facial hair... It turned out better than I expected...

And I'll take SOME pity on your dry eyes, but I'm firmly in the Anime camp of telling emotional stories with overly round eyeballs.... :gulp:

Alas no! I have no talent with creating my own hair...this is Goya Hair from Neftis3D (link). This is currently the best M4 hair I have bought - I really should expand that collection.

As I develop my skills and hubris, I'll try creating an M4 doppelganger.
