Do zBrush displacement maps just take effect at renders ? & not Posing.
Say you have a mesh with a displacement map and your posing the mesh.
Will the displacement maps slow you down while your posing the mesh ?
I'm asking for DAZ Studio
Thanks

In DS default view displacement won't render in any way so it shouldn't slow you down.
In ZBrush itself they might, but with the other hand, ZBrush can render millions of polygons.
Displacements only appear at render times. Be it made from Zbrush or any other source.
Is there a limit to how many polygon's a displacement map can have ?
Thanks
You can do displacement in zBrush at 1mil poly and apply that map to a 5k model and it will be pretty close.
Also remember that the Displacements must be saved when the base mesh is at Sub-D level0 in zbrush. The detail will all be there even at base.
As I'm modeling ,I keep on thinking of stuff I'm not sure of.
If I have a real low polycount mesh that's barely looks human, just a canvas for the displacement map.
Then add a lot of detail with the displacement map.
When I pose the mesh or have a extreme facial expression say him screaming with his mouth wide open.
Will the displacement map still look good ?
Thanks
Thanks for the tips
All depends how the mesh reacts to expressions and where the Displacement details lie. The two have to work together. You cannot just add displacement detail and hope for the best. See how it reacts to a certain bend etc, and make adjustments from there. So yes all the displacement detail will be there, but will it flow with the mesh is another story all together.
