How do you use the direct DIM Installer on Product Library pages from your account?

I noticed there is a DIM icon with a hover pop-up stating "Install using Install Manager". However, it is non-clickable, and the download button next to it is just to download the zip. Is this something not quite-ready for prime-time, or am I missing a browser plugin or something. Not sure I even want this option, as I prefer to download my products into category-specific directories, but it would be nice to have the option.

DIM is an application that, if you want it, you will download and install first. Once installed, you can use it to download other content.
That's not actually the DIM download link. You can find DIM here: http://www.daz3d.com/install-manager-info .

No, no ... sorry if I wasn't clear. I already have DIM installed (in fact, just updated to the latest version). I was wondering how you utilize the in-browser implementation of DIM.

You can download the DIM zip from the Product Library and put it in the downloads folder used by DIM, and DIM can then install it as if it downloaded it. Or you can unzip it manually.

I don't think that there is an "in-browser" implementation of DIM. What I think those DIM downloads in the Product Library are, are versions you can install with DIM if you choose to download from your Product Library.

I'm not sure why someone would download from the Product Library and then install with DIM, but if you do that and download it to the same location on your hard drive where you download files through DIM, it should (not going to say will because I haven't tried it myself) show up in the Ready To Install tab in DIM.

Edited to Add: . . . and I see Mike types faster than I do. ;-)

Thanks, guys ... gotcha. It's just really just "file-type indicator" really. Just letting you know that this would be a download if you wanted to use DIM to install, got it. You're right though ... that does beg the question, why would you be using the product manager then? Maybe if you're on another machine, or DIM isn't working? Who knows.

    Thanks for the clarification.

I just use DIM like this, Buy item log off site, get my e-mail that the order is done. Boot DIM and then Install new item. It shows that fast if it's DIM ready, for me anyway.

Or if you don't use DIM but want a zip instead of an installer.

Very true, as I've never been a huge fan of the Bitrock Installers.

In my case, there's a product in my Product List (pwGhost) but it's not showing up in DIM, so I'll have to download it manually and then get DIM to do its magic.

I'm not seeing a DIM version of pwGhost n Product Library, just the installers.

Hmmm, you're right. I assume that's why it isn't showing up in the list. Do I tell DAZ support or simply wait for them to work their way through their remaining products?

It's probably a bit soon to make a report - support for code-type products, and other formats such as Bryce and Carrara, has only just been added to DIM.
