POSERWORKS: Any plans to update Particles3 for Poser Pro 2012/Poser 9?

I noticed this is only compatible with Poser 7, so I'm kind of doubting it. But I think the only update needed would be because of the change to Python in the latest version of Poser. I'm not sure if it would be just a simple recompile or not, but would love to hear from PW if this is even a remote possibility?

The vendor has pretty much been out of the game for several years now. The code of Particles 3 is available through Google. Several over at Rendo have tried adapting the code to the Python changes both with P8 and P9 but there seems to be problems. AFAIK, there have been no major python changes with the new version so the problems may yet be solved.

As annoying as it is, if you have P6 or P7, you can run it along side newer versions of Poser to give you access to those plugins that don't work in newer versions of python.

Thanks for the insight, I appreciate the info. Yeah, I usually just composite particles in After Effects using either Particular or Particle Illusion. It's ultimately a lot faster and gives me more control in the long run. BUT, there are those times when it would just be nice (and sometimes easier) to have the particles rendered in the same 3D space.

Vue is finally introducing particles, which is great since I end up doing a lot of my renders in Vue, so that may be another option. It would be nice, of couese, if Poser would introduce a true particle system in Poser, but I don't see mention of it in the latest announcement for PPro 2014 ... so that is a long way off.

    Thanks again.

SMS has been very responsive to Poser users and their requests. Before P10/2014 is even out we're already starting on what we hope to see next time. Particles is one of the requests. The offical forum over at RDNA has a thread where you can add your request.
