Spot rendering in iRay needs improving (yes, I know it's NVidia's baby, not DAZ 3D's)

Maybe Im doing something wrong, but spot rendering in iRay doesn't seem significantly faster than simply switching from Texture Shaded to iRay mode, even when only a small part of the scene is involved. At present, the Spot Render function seems practically useless.

As mentioned in the title, I'm aware that DAZ isn't responsible for the iRay engine, but one hopes they have some clout with NVidia (they should, since there's no doubt that DAZ has contributed heavily to the sale of NVidia graphics cards). If so, and if the Spot Render function can be improved--i.e. speeded up so it's worth using--I'm sure many DAZ users would be grateful, including me.

  • I'm not sure it can be sped up much, as I believe much of the time is spent loading the content into VRAM.

I suspect you're right, but it sure would be nice if it could be improved to the point of making it useful.
