Think DAZ will ever pull off this level of cell shading?

Earlier today, I saw the trailer for a new Gulity Gear game. Approximately a minute into the video, my mind exploded.

Is it foolish to hope that one day DAZ could pull off similar renders?

DAZ Studio uses the 3Delight render engine so the power is already there. The trick is finding someone who can program in the Renderman Shader Language or make use of the shader builder in DS. So the short answer is yes but its a question of when.

As Matty posted, it is very possible to achieve with Renderman compliant renderers. If you go over to RDNA and look at Olivier's Art Materials, especially his cartoon shaders, you can see what could be achieved using Firefly's shaders back in the days of Poser6. Given the adavances in Renderman render engines In the past decade, it can be done.

The man with the deeper voice sounds like the guy who does the voice-over/narration for One Piece

I thought it was already possible. The following render was done using pwToon and the freebie presets for it available on ShareCG. Zero postwork.

Great artwork in that trailer but that style of flashing anime video really bothers my brain. I didn't get a real good look but it seems like the artwork is more 2d than 3d.... if so it would be different than the look from Daz or Poser.

I also think that with some work that sort of cel shading is perfectly achievable using Daz products
Although personally I would use a combination of Carrara’s Vectorstyle 2 & ToonPro for it.

I've attached a quick example (I did do some slight post work)
I think It's close, with some actual textures, a few creases and more attention paid to lighting it could be closer.
