DS 4.6 Installation Errors

I've moved this issue from another thread because it was becoming buried. I have just downloaded the official release and redone the uninstalls of the older program. I still get the following error messages during uninstall. I restart, and installed 4.6. I get error messages saying contact DAZ support, which I will do after this post. I still get the same error message as I have down here. I am not alone, there are others.

I do not have the option to choose between card or integrated graphics. My issue came with the installer failing to uninstall the previous version halfway through uninstalling it, causing it to fail every subsequent time.

EDIT: Another problem I encounter with the installation. It fails to install the Daz Content Management Service. It simply says it encountered an error, and then carries on installing the rest of Daz Studio as if nothing happened.

I am having this exact issue myself. After the initial failures, I manually uninstalled everything (it will give me a message partway through that tells me that DS4.6 has stopped working though it has never run...) through the control panel, then I restart computer, when back in, I try reinstalling. DS4.6. It LOOKS like it does the right thing but then does what Bish says on Content manager installation part. After, it says it is installed successfully, I try to run DS4.6 Beta (is this one of the beta bugs?) it gives me this message:

The procedure entry point ?put_LastRecID@QueryResult@vsql@fbl@@QEAAXI@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library VShared_release_x64.dll.

I do have Win 7 x64 so no worries there. Since it doesn't give me a report form, I can't report it through the bug log :(
Help us please!

Just to be super sure, here are my system stats:

Sounds like a bad DL, if you Clean your Browser Caches and DL again got you get the same error at install?

I'll have to try cleaning the caches but I have re-downloaded it from Beta to Release. The "This program has stopped working" error message runs for all instances of DS including uninstalling my old version 4.5 and the old content manager. After it tells me to either "close the program" or "look for a solution and close the program" the uninstall SEEMS to run as normal. I have tried through Windows Control Panel, and also through DS's own uninstallers with same results. I HAD Revo, but removed it from the system. I still have the same issues :(

Once I have access to my comp again, I'll repost if I have had any success with the cache emptying. Funnily enough, DS4.6 SEEMS to install ok (after the "This program has stopped working DS 4.6 window) but has a hissy fit at the content manager install. Then it gives me the message as above when try to run it. I read on one thread that uninstalling content manager works, but this hasn't neither has installing the whole thing over the top of my previous DS 4.5 or leaving the Content manager on from DS 4.5.

Must. Fix! It's driving me nuts!

PS: Sorry about the essay here :)

Erm... would using the DIM work with this? Is it essential to have DIM (the download manager from DAZ) to have this work? I have installed it since these issues.... I'll experiment.

The procedure entry point ?put_LastRecID@QueryResult@vsql@fbl@@QEAAXI@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library VShared_release_x64.dll.

This problem appears to be related to the Valentina database which the CMS uses. I am not sure what the cause is, or the fix, but I have seen other threads where Anti Virus programs were stopping this from running. If you stop all of your AV programs, even windows firewall, and try to reinstall DS4.6 AND the CMS (uninstall CMS first - again!)

I only use MSE on my Win 7 machine, and it hasn't caused any problems so far with anything. If you do a search on Google for VShared_release_x64.dll, it will give you more information than you will ever need.

Good god, you were right about that 'More information then I'll ever need' part! I'm looking into it now :) Thanks a ton, I hope this can solve the issue. I'm working on it now.

Still working, tried turning off the anti-virus stuff, but same issue. I tried a search for VShared_release_x64.dll but pparently it doesn't exist! Is this because Daz Content Manager fails to install every time? It fails towards the end of the DS4.6 install and I get this message:

The installation of the "DAZ Content Management Service" has encountered an error.

You may need to contact customer support for assistance (www.daz3d/i/support)

That takes me to DS4.5 page lol. Anyway, gonna try uninstalling with AV off, redownloading with AV off, Restarting with AV off, reinstalling with AV off, trying to run with AV off, after I've done a virus scan. Is there a separate download of the DCM? Would installing DS4.6 to a separate new directory help? (I emptied the old one manually after uninstalling all the meaty bits).

The CMS is installed as part of the DS4.6 main install, and there is no seperate installer for it. If the CMS is already installed, the main app does not change it, you have to make sure that it is uninstalled first if you want it to be replaced with the latest version.

The CMS installs to C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\Content Management Service, at least that is where mine installed to for the 64 bit version of DS4.6. On Vista or Win7/8, Program Files is a protected area, and you will need to install using Admin rights.

I have never installed to any other location, but if all else fails, you could try that.

When I first installed 4.6, the installation process allowed me to uninstall the previous version of DS4.5. Towards the end of the install it asked me to uninstall the content manager, which I did. I figured it was a new version and would work. I have windows 7 home, it kept flashing up a "This program has stopped responding" for both the DS4.6 which wasn't even installed entirely at that point, and for the content manager. The content manager then gave me error message with: 'contact daz support' (Which I have). I had it working when I had DS4.5 installed and installed it into a separate folder but I had no content in my panel. Fine, if I wanted to find figures manually but not at all handy for finding my new shaders or super suit shaders or hair or anything else. But installing DS4.5 to use ITS content manager overrode the DS4.6 somehow, that is to say I could only use DS4.5.

I have now uninstalled DS4.5, DS4.6 and the Content Manager, Plus the Downloader (just in case), and deleted my entire content folder and the old folders I installed DS to. I started blank. I turned off AV and firewall. I deleted the saved download and re-downloaded DS4.6. I reinstalled it to an entirely new folder with an entirely new content folder (somehow it remembered my old folders so content manager seems to be like a flea or a leech when you need it killed). However, I get the same error messages. I even reinstalled older versions of C++ as per another thread about VShared, a file which doesn't exist on my machine somehow though the C++ WAS supposed to replace it... anyway I still get that error and the same install error on ending as if Content Manager is corrupt somehow, upon download or on my machine. This time the content manager install didn't ask me to uninstall previous versions. It's fresh, it SHOULD have worked. This SHOULD just have been a standard install. I've battled with it for days, and I'm a bit fed up with it at the moment :(

    /cry

I have never seen that option in any DS installer, and I did not see it when I installed DS4.6 I uninstalled the CMS from the Start menu first, and then I installed DS4.6, which uninstalled DS4.5 for me as normal. I am not certain that you need to uninstall the CMS from DS4.5, but I did so anyway to get the latest version.

I had some problems with my Categories, and I believed that my database was corrupted, so I took the step of deleting all of the files in the databases folder. I had my user Categories that I had set up, all saved from the Content Lbrary > DB Maintenance option, so I wan't worried about losing all of my work. The Metadata will be reloaded as well when the new database is created, so youwont lose anything there.

Do you have any Categories set up yourself? If so, do you have a backup as described?

If you can afford to get rid of the databases, you may find that it will solve your problem for you.

Mine are stored in C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\Content Management Service\databases, but other people have said that there folder is somewhere else. Do a search for Master.vdb or ContentDB.vdb, to find out where you databases folder is. What I did, was delete these two files, and the other three ContentDB files as well, leaving an empty 'databases' folder.

I then uninstalled CMS (again), and reinstalled DS4.6, and this time, everything worked as it should. I reimported my Categories, and they now work perfectly.

This may not be the official way to get around this problem, but it looks like you have removed most of your files already. If you have Categories that you have setup, and no back up, you may not want to do it this way. All I can say, is it worked for me, and it is wirth a try.

It's worked, though the files took some finding, I also have not tested the content tab on the left (the one that visually and easily displays the content) but I am downloading the basic content kit that comes with the DS4.6 program to see if that helps bring it back. Thank you all for your assistance, I hope this phase works! I feel it might.

Is there a way to get the content folders to move products without metadata into the other content library on the left (I'm sorry, super super tired and don't know it's official name (possibly even if it was right in front of my face at this stage :X)) if you know what I mean?

Thanks a heap for bearing with me during my flip-out everyone and I hope it is helping others.

ALL content, whether it has Metadata or not, appears in the Content Library tab (if that is the one you mean), so no need to do anything else, other than install. Items with Metadata appear in the Smart Content pane, but everything appears in the Content Library anyway, wither under Poser Formats for older figures like V4, M4, K4 etc, and Genesis will be under DAZ Studio Formats.

You can also Categorise your content, which is very simple to do, and you can back it up as well. For example, you could put a figure like V4, with all the V4 clothing, and V4 hair and motphs etc, into the same category, so that they are easier to find, no switching folders. This leaves the content exactly where it is, so no problems with paths, but it allows you to group items in a way that is logical to you.

It is worth thinking about, but lets get you up and running first.

I deleted the .vdb files from their hiding places, and it seems to have helped, though I still got all the oddball error messages. I also installed the content starter bundle and it seems to have 'jogged' the Smart Content tab and now, inexplicably, after all this computer kerfuffle almost causing hair deforestation, it works! So happy! Got to play with those gummy shaders. Thank you thank you thank you! :-)

I am so glad for you :)

Let's hope it stays working, mine did, so it should be OK.
