Collective3d Contemporary Home 1 weird texture?

Bought Collective3d Contemporary Home 1 and the grass looks nothing like the store product image, something I have missed?

First picture from store second picture a quick test render.

The grass looks similar to some of the store product images, but you're right, it doesn't look the same as the back yard.

Makes me wonder if there are two different grass shaders in the product.

Perhaps take a look at surfaces of the grass. Product says it comes with normal and roughness. So perhaps normal, bump, and/or displacement map didn't get applied or limits need to be removed. Generally, however, this should be handled automatically by the shader/material so if it isn't something simple like picking a different grass shader, it might be worth an email to the author or a ticket.

I could not find any other material or shaders for the ground/grass related to the product unfortunatly.

  • To me the lighting looks different. One is similar to a cloudy day and the other looks like a day with some sun, from the shadows it looks that way.

Could it be the different placement of the light source on those pictures? On the promo pic the house and gras are lighted from the viewer's side, and on your render the light comes from the opposite direction. Not sure if that might cause a difference...

It could be beetle grubs... Or try a different fertilizer brand... Scotts Turf Bulilder is pretty good.

Actually, the one marked "test render" looks very flat... like the bump or normal map isn't connected.

I suspect the grass has displacement to look like individual blades, if so it won't work in Iray with out cranking the sub-d level on the ground plane to a ridiculous (possibly crash inducing) amount.
