Does Studio import .dfx?

I'm taking a class in 3D modeling, and it uses Maya. Maya does not export to .obj. It gives me a list of other options, the only one of which that sounds remotely familiar is DXF. In any event, what I've got are:
mayaAscii
mayaBinary
mel
move
editMA
editMB
Autodesk Packet File
SPF_DCE
STL_DCE
IGES_DCE
DWG_DCE
DXF_DCE
mentalRay
FBX export
DAE_FX export
Are any of these formats that Studio can access? How about Hexagon.I'm assuming that Hexagon can export to .obj.

Hex can open dfx and save as obj .
Good-oh. I was croggled to discover that Maya won't export .obj.
i'd be amazed if Maya couldn't export obj,it's one of most common formats for all the apps...
maybe this link will help:

Aha. It's a plug-in. I couldn't find anything like a plugin manager in the program on the classroom computer -- nor on mine. I could believe the student version wouldn't have access to it, but the classroom computer should, and doesn't.Will check that link.
Found it! Had to hunt all round Robin Hood's barn to find it and turn the plugin on. WHY it is't on by default I can't imagine.
That's better anyway.
Not sure, but DAE is DAZ Collada, which DS can import. However, the Maya export is called DAE_FX, and I don't know how different that is, or if Maya just named it differently.
That said, as Stefan mentined, OBJ is probably the most popular export format, so I'm surprised you need a plugin for Maya to export to OBJ. Then again, I believe AutoDesk has become very proprietary as 3DS Max doesn't save to .3ds format any more, which is also a popular format that quite a number of 3D apps can import. I believe, and Stefan can confirm if I'm thinking correctly (or not), that the newer versions' native file format is now .max instead.
If you use FBX for export you might be able to save subdivision settings which D/S can understand.
That's EXCEPTIONALLY weird that Maya doesn't natively export to OBJ...
Maya was originally owned by Alias/Wavefront, and the OBJ format is officially "Alias/Wavefront OBJ".
And it's not Autodesk's fault when they bought it, 3DS Max imports and exports to OBJ...
From that list, I would think FBX would be the most complete and hassle-free way to get meshes from Maya into Studio.
I'll keep that in mind. This exercise is just a class project that I'd like to get some use of (Adam Watkins's bug-eyed alien figure), but there are a number of things that I want to build to bring into Studio to rig, down the road.
