backup and restore menu customizations

What are the correct steps to back up and restore the menu customizations in DAZ Studio 4.8, including both the Scripts menu and the help menu?

I have lots of steps written down and see options that LOOK like they should work, and thought I had been doing it for years, but apparently what I think is wrong.  Lost them again for some reason, recreated them, need to know how to get this working for good.  I know my help menu customizations are partly stored in and backed up in customactions.dsx, just not fully in the menu.

    Layouts are in C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Roaming\Daz 3D\Studio4\User Layouts by default.

    Ok, so I am actually already backing up and restoring that and that seems to be working now with my freshly saved copy at least (thanks!), I bet I'm doing something else wrong to subsequently mess it up though. 

    What are the import/export options in the customize window supposed to be used for?  ( Window > Workspace > Customize > Import button.  Set dropdown button to "Actions", "Layouts", "Menus", or "Toolbars". )   Or should I not use any of these ever, because they're already included in the backed-up User Layouts folder and/or the backed-up customactions.dsx file?

    Those options enable you to import some but not all aspects of the layout, selecting a layout will do all. I did havea problem, after reinstalling Windows last year, using the layout files from the Studio4 folder 9the ones that were currently in use) - but reloading the saved layout worked fine.
