'ang on, since September I've been getting multiples of new items for under $8 or $9 each. (I got three or four new, non-PC+, non-DazOriginal items under $5 each). True, that was during the PA & PC+ sales (which lasted over two months), but they were quickly followed by a loyalty discount throughout December (mine was 30%, which resulted in me getting more new items under at or under $10). With coupons and stacks, I got several Genesis 3 core character HD Add-ons for an average of $7. I really cannot complain about the prices because they have been really, really cheap to me.
In fact, I was hoping the steep sales would abate long enough to give me time to accumulate funds for March. Scientifically, Renderosity items are a little MORE expensive than Daz items during sales now that PRIME is no longer stuck at $3.50 and can be pegged at any amount the vendor chooses.
...however, I may find myself heading there a bit more as there are so few items being released here for G3 what with the introduction of G8.
I've hardly bought anything at Rendo. Mostly Redz Studio different fibre mesh hairs. I do have my eye on some old genre M4/V4 clothing and niche stuff that will likely never make the DAZ Store by those artists or any other artists. It's not anything I'm chomping at the bit to buy though. Maybe I will, maybe I won't.
I'm not seeing Daz prices rising from their old, regular prices. I see that type of inflation everywhere in the real world (especially the grocery store) but thankfully not here.
Products here are introduced at a 30% discount. Then they go up to their full price after a spell. Then, a few months later, more likely than not they are part of a variety of sales. After a couple of years go by, they may receive a temporary steep discount (80% or more) via Fast Grab or some other sale (especially if they are clothing items for a base figure that is a generation or more out of date).
As with anything else in life that isn't free, how much any item is worth is something for the consumer and the producer to work out.
This is just plain false. Quite often, prices get substantially discounted once a product goes off New status, SOME THE DAY AFTER, and discounts happen just as much for products that did quite well and continue to do so. I've bought many sets a month or two after they go off new status (that happens more frequently than the day after, that's for sure!) and they're sets that sell very well.
And as several people have indicated, prices didn't increase, you're confused with sale prices. I wanted to be specific and show you.
SC Chloe is 19.95 and was that price in AUGUST. Before you bought it in September.
It DROPPED ON SALE to 13.97 Aug 27th and Sept 11th
$11.97 October 10th
$10.77 November 1 and 18th, etc.
That $13.27 was NOT the base price of it. There was no $6 increase in price. So based on this, I suspect that it's possible when you say "Many prices have increased by $6" the regular prices were DISCOUNTED by $6 then were back at the original price. Which is a more than reasonable price because oh look, you could have gotten this for $10.77 in November!
I just looked up your other example. Rinse, repeat. The price didn't get jacked up, buyers got several opportunities for great deals. So what's your complaint? That you get great sales?
Since this seems to have done a good job of correcting the original misunderstanding I think it can be closed. Thank you to everyone who stepped up to explain the situation.
