Iray render resume

When working with Iray renders, I would like to save the render midway through so I can plop it into photoshop and work with my final product while I wait for the render to reach perfection. Unfortunately when I hit save, the resume option goes away. Is there a way to resumes a previously "completed" iray render - if not, there should be.

Try File>Save Last Render, instead of using the Save button in the render window.

That works - could we put a button on the render window that does the same thing? Saves without closing
