overwhelmed by females - not enough male products

geez louise. 3 women yesterday, 2 today, no males. I look for male genesis clothing, and its absurdly slim pickins.
I know the women sell better but give me a break, artists. Make with the menfolk a little bit please.

You know, maybe sometimes the guys just want to feel pretty too. ;)
LOL cute -but not what I had in mind.
Seriously, I tried to find some genesis male clothing under "everyday clothing" and it was seriously slim pickins, most of which I already own. Male textures? way outnumbered. Male genesis hair? laughably slim.
Yes, sell those female big sellers! But cmon guys, give us a break.
Here's a link to all of the Genesis-friendly men: http://www.daz3d.com/people?cat=1139&compat_figures=28
I agree though, there are a TON more females than males. I'm also waiting for some morphs based on the basic children or the baby. There are other stores like RDNA and Rendo you could check (although RDNA is more Gen4 friendly, and I think Rendo might be lacking in the men department as well).
If you happen to have M4 with his Morphs++ and GenX, then your man arsenal can increase substantially since you can transfer them, and Genesis can wear M4 skins as it is. They'll look better on Genesis if you have the M4 Shape for Genesis as well.
I recommend DZheng's stuff over on rendo for male genesis clothing with loads of morphs and good with shaders.
When I was a wee child I preferred to play with Barbie over GI Joe. I liked the little bumps. It has continued to do this day. I like my wife's little bumps as well as Vicki's larger bumps.
Aerysoul said it best, the like 5 weeks they were with daz....
Dudes just dont make the rent payments..
sux but true.
Taught myself modeling and made my own MARPAT M$ uniform for M4 years ago, also made a Boy n Girl Kid Morphs for v4 easily a year before the real ones came out.
Key is sometimes ya cant wait for others to make it,,,its half the fun of CG. :D
been having the same issue, nigh impossible to find armor for males
I have some Free Genesis clothes at ShareCG, which includes lots of everyday male clothes.:-)
See link under my signature.
That's right, those sets are really selling-quality. As of male characters, Raiya has wonderful ones. My favourite elderly male is her Sad Clown Theo, Jesse makes a cute teenager and adult men range from Neo and Benjamin through Josh, Damon, Sean, Noah and Gabriel to Manly Men Shapes. I also like adult Sliman and Zaid and teenage Aaron and Edward M. Odd (but those are from different vendors).
There are fine guys in the shop, you only need quite a time to find them.
Can I talk you into sharing that uniform with us, Mr. Risk3D?
No worries, I'll take all the pretty ladies so you dont have to!
I agree. I feel saturated with the female stuff,.
I prefer the male models personally, and agree they are underrepresented here. I sincerely hope Michael 6 is soon to be released. I really want to update some of my figures.
I'd like more male clothing too, but unfortunately it's not that commercial and probably for the vendors is also more fun to work with women than men items.
It doesn't help there's not even a current male figure, just a female one, and who know when/if we will get one. :/
This is why it's no wonder the male version is delayed for the G2G (Generation 2 Genesis). Males don't sell, apparently, or at least not as well as female stuff.
In any case, I agree that Wilmap's stuff is a treasure trove for non-sexified clothing for both male and female Genesis figs. M4 stuff also translate better in Genesis than V4 for some reason by my experience when it comes to auto-fit.
It is sort of a self defeating cycle though, if it doesn't sell well, people don't make it, people won't buy it, so it doesn't get made etc. =-)
The reality is though there are some of who would buy it, and certainly customers won't buy anything that isn't around.
I know I won't change anyone's minds, and I've heard all the vendors tell me it doesn't sell. So my solution is what others said, perhaps Daz needs to market it themselves or buy products from vendors and market them as daz originals so the vendor doesn't lose out on a sale. The only way to get men's clothing in the store and to market men's stuff is to offer it to attract men's clothing clients.
I cannot agree more, I'm waiting impatiently for M6, but instead we keep getting all kind of women things which I already have.
I've wished for a long time now for some decent
* Hip / Hoppers outfit complete with baggy jeans and huge necklases
* Hard Rock / Biker outfits with studded belts, jackets, pants, vests etc
* Hazard outfits like included image
* Winter/Polar outfits
* Dress uniforms with a number of stripes and tazzels
* Navy / Sailors uniforms with the characteristic collars
* Long trench coat with a lot of pockets and stuff
* Clothes for Arab men
And I want more of
* Realistic medieval and renaissance clothes including hats and wigs
* Gasmasks and other kind of after-harmageddon stuff
* Tattoo band marching uniforms
By the way I hope it's time for M6 when the PA sale is over
One of the things that made me go out and invest into Genesis is that the male clothes made for it also work with the females. Although this is, of course, vice versa when it comes to the figure, male clothing tends to be more practical and less exploitative in terms of the amount of skin showing. The Town and Country, for instance, is one of my favorite sets, as it looks good on both males and females and the amount of morphs (like open and close button for the shirts) makes it so versatile.
However, the scarcity of examples of such practical clothes even for Genesis 1 that also illustrates what sells: skimpwear which, while some customers like those on males, are primarily geared toward the female figures. But it's what the bulk of what people buy.
We could make the argument that you can't buy something that isn't there. However, it's likely the higher ups and PAs make their choices based on what came before that sells best. Which, again, takes us back to the skimpwear being what the bulk demands.
Perhaps if there was a PA brave and liquid enough to take a chance and focus solely on male-centric clothes, he or she might monopolize the demand for it, but it's doubtful no one has thought about doing that before. Yet, from the trends here and in other sites, it's understandable, however unfortunate, that the creators focus more on bikinis, lingerie, and cleavage revealing armors.
Well... I don't want to arouse unnecessary sensations, but when i was filling in the annual survey at Rendo, one of the questions included which figures I prefer. There was a suspicious Michael 6... Maybe they're just guessing, but who knows.
As of male characters, quite a lot of those freebies are wonderful. Search for "George for M4" or "Boss for M4" (this one's at RenderCandy).
I rid my runtime of most freebie content a while ago. I try to keep my runtime commercial use no attribution only, so I don't have to fret about licensing when and if I sell a render. Too complicated and hectic for me.
I do think lots of free content is awesome though. Just can't and don't want to keep track of licensing for stuff I want to use commercially. It is more headache to me than it is worth with free content.
What I'm looking for in men's clothing is basics: underwear, undershirt, shorts, tank-top, t-shirt, shoes, coveralls, fligthsuit etc. Sci-fi futuristic but not flash gordon stye, uniforms, bodysuits, bodyarrmor, bots, etc. Would love a realistic cowboy hat, shirt, jeans and outfit.
What I need in men's clothing, since there is not a lot to begin with is the ability to customize it, so mat zones and different options are a must. There are so few men's outfits for sale, that men's content is easily identifiable to anyone in 3d. I would like it to be somewhat less apparent... So more options would be nice.
Long hair for men, and a variety of skin tones. I have enough really pale ones.
Would like some alien figures as well. Love the stuff at rendo. =-)
I think it's actually negative with the lack of an M6. You tend to want to use the woman together with the male, to want to have corresponding clothes, to put them in the corresponding situations. Something that was easy with the G1 characters, because they used the same clothes.
Having a look at what's being released for G2 over the last few weeks, it seems like inspiration has dried up like that lake in Russia. Save for 'Horror Survivors', which was an awesome set, it's just the same short dress or pants'n'top over and over again. Therefore I think it would be great to have the male relesed, with a set of hairs, characters et cetera and then a wardrobe with typical male stuff, like tuxedos, neckties, fedoras, workmens outfits, military stuff et c.
I agree. Would love the clothing you mentioned. =-) Excellent points.
