Strong dislike for 4 hour flash sales announcements without sales

*unhappy*
I logged in, saw the Smay 4 hour flash sale, went to the vendor page, saw the 60% off - went to the items page ... no sale.
Refresh vendor page - still 60%
Go to items page - no sale
Repeat, repeat, no sale
Refresh the store page: sale announcement
Refresh the vendor page - 60%
Got to items page - no sale
...
Refresh store page: sale announcement

Could you at least take down the announcement first and then the sale on the items????????
*crying*

Edited to add: apart from that those flash sales are always in my nighttime. Sometimes Daz could remember customers in different timezones.

< points up > What she said. It's getting annoying, more so since I'm cutting back on my DAZ buying to just once a week, and I can't afford to just jump on multiple sales in between.

The wide variety of ways these sales can — and frequently do — break isn't helping. Some "today! NOW!!1!11" sales stay up for days, some sale notices stay up long after it's over, some sale discounts don't show up in the cart until the very last click...

It seems most of the flash sales are during the afternoon hours while I am at work, but I guess I am making money rather than spending it.

personally, I like them. I wouldnt want all sales to be flash sales but i see them as extra sales that I get in on. sometimes its been just what i was looking for too.

I really don't mind the sales.
It kind of takes me back to the original FastGrab.

That said, I have never participated in the new 4 hour sales because whenever I try to buy something, the sale is already gone by. When the sale is already going I'm not online (I'm one of the few people here I guess without an IPad or some such device).

Other times, the sale has items I have no interest in what's on sale, or the sale isn't a very good one (30% off).

I like them in that I regard them as Fastgrab sales ... see it, grab it, buy it IF the price is what's expected [or less of course].
Some of those sales have gone on for days; some, well ... for all the time I spend in here, they never showed up as on sale in my cart either so were "no sales".

The front page of Sale promos seems to be just tagging the newest up top with the previous ones listing below. So quite a few gimmick sales aren't registering because their time is up. It would be nice if those too were cleaned up as the new ones load ... it's rather like reading yesterday's newspaper.

I love them, gotten lots of good deals when I did happen to catch one I wanted. If I happen to miss it, its not the end of the world and I'll just wait for another one, One thing I have found with DAZ, if I miss out on a sale, eventually I'll get another chance at it.

I am not against the flash sales themselves - I am just against the announcement still slapping into my face when the sale is over.

I just want Daz3d to stop the announcement first, and then stop the sales on the items.

I'll admit, that'd drive me bonkers if I ran into that. I get emailed when a new flash sale has started in the last 1/2 hour, though, and Taozen has a Windows version that he put together for notifications.

There's a thread you can subscribe to, that'll also email you notifications when a member pops in to note a new flash sale. (Just remember to click through the email, or it won't notify you the next time someone posts.)

So they're not quite as exclusive as DAZ probably thought they'd be, at first. :)

But you're absolutely right, it's poor form to turn off the sale before the rotating banner is gone. (Caching can mess that up a lot, though.)

On the flip side, the 'utilities and resources' sale was still going a good bit after they'd pulled the banner...so swings and roundabouts, I guess.

I have contacted Daz and told them about my frustration and to turn off the banners before the sale is gone ... let's see whether I at least get an answer.
Like I said - flash sales are fun if you catch them.

Could you give a link to Taozen's Windows version of that mail information thingie? And to the forum thread?

I was told that it will be forwarded to the marketing team ... and that it may be a caching issue. Oh well.

Found the flash sales thread: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/21605/

I've never seen a flash sale in my life, probably because I'm on CET and possibly in bed or at work when those happen...

Yes- Thats the point folks... sale= good.... sale over but sign still up= bad. I don't like walking into a store that has a sign on the front window "60% OFF!!" and when I get to the register it's normal price... to say the least, it pisses me off. In general DAZ should note it creates ill will among customers... I don't know if in this instance there was some disclaimer that said when the sale ended, but if required looking ANYWHERE but on the actual announcement, then it runs the risk of confusing someone and pissing off people.
There is a reason used car dealership have the reputation they do... is that really the impression that is wished to be emulated?
    I hope not.
