I am needing some characters. 2 adults, one male one female. 2 children, one male one female. These do not need to be animated, I just need still full body pictures with no background.

I need some characters for national television. Being how we do not want to be sued for using anyones work, we need original characters that will be used for commercial use. If you are interested, please send me a private message and let me know how much you will charge to create these characters. Plus, I will also need you to sign a simple release stating that I own all rights to the characters.

Any takers? Thanks everyone.

All of the items in the DAZ 3D store, with a partial exception for the Anne Marie Goddard Digital Clone as noted on the product page, can be used commercially in 2D still images and videos under the basic license.

So, I could just buy them in the store? You mentioned 2D still images. I want to use these characters in 2D animation, having said that will I still be able to use them for commercial use?

Essentially the only major restrictions on content bought from the store are that you can't re-distribute the meshes, even in an altered form. This entitles you to create animations or still renders for commercial purposes without legal repercussions. There are some minor exceptions to this rule, but they are very few and far between.

Very nice. I appreciate the response. I think I may want to possibly explore the potential for original characters however this sounds like a perfect backup plan in case no one comes through.

How difficult would it be to customize my character either bought by store or created originally with a custom t-shirt with our logo?

Adding a logo to a T-Shirt is generally pretty simple - you open a copy of the texture and position the logo, with a mask to allow the backing to show through (I imagine you will already have a suitable file, either masked bitmap or a vector file), and then use the Surfaces pane to swap out the original texture for the modified version. The only likely issue is that the shirt isn't real fabric, so it may distort if you give your characters well-developed chests.

The issue is, I do not own Daz. I would need to pay someone to do this for us.

Also, I was looking in the store and it appears as if software is REQUIRED to make these purchases. All I want of the image of them standing in a normal pose so I can import them into my 2D software and animate them.

(I know, a bit of an overkill if I am using DAZ-based characters in 2D)

DAZ Studio is free, you only have to create an account, and "buy" the software in the store for 0,- USD. And you can animate the characters inside of DAZ Studio.

DAZ Studio is free, you only have to create an account, and "buy" the software in the store for 0,- USD. And you can animate the characters inside of DAZ Studio. You should also do a search for items in the store that are also 0. US$. A free Aiko 3 is part of the Anime Star Fighter bundle that's in the store currently @ $0. DAZ Studio 4.6 is also currently free & comes with the Genisis figure that can be converted to either male or female. Be sure to follow the instructions for ALL of the installers that come with Studio.

Also, there are incredible amounts of free figures and morphs that can be found by searching here through the Freepository forum, or renderosity's site, or severeal other locations--some of which can't be named (*cough*renderotica*cough*runtimeDNA*cough*ShareCG*cough*)--for customizing figures so you can have hundreds of individualized characters. Just make sure you note which figure the morphs are for, as Genisis morphs won't work on A3, or vice versa.

As with any of the 3D software out there, there is a bit of a learning curve to get over. DAZ Studio is no exception, and you might find it a bit frustrating when you're first trying it out. But stick with learning it as much as you can--many people here who started out with Poser now prefer Studio (& you can find threads scattered all over the place about folks arguing which is better...mostly locked threads now....but sometimes there's renders posted showing examples of their work)

Thanks for that Ryuu. The reason as to why I wanted original characters is so that we cannot be sued for using the characters without owning the rights to that character. If this was a small project for personal use I am sure using someone elses work would be fine, however this will be used for commercial use.

If you purchase the characters from here, they are licensed for commercial use and you could legally use them in the project as I understand it. Of course, the rights are not exclusive...other people can buy the same characters from DAZ and use them in their own personal or commercial projects.

For more information on what you can or cannot do with DAZ 3D content, check the End User License Agreement (EULA)

Why don´t you download DAZ studio and check out what it offers? It even comes with free content - Genesis figure, which has base male, female and child morph, and also some free clothing. You can tweak the facial features and body shape of Genesis to produce different looking characters of any gender and age (well, old people would be a problem with just the included free content, but children and non-aged adults would be fine). If free clothing that comes with DAZ studio does not fit the style you want, you can download some free clothes from ShareCg (but you would have to check every item whether it is licensed for commercial use, as some items on ShareCg are for non-commercional use only).

So with just the free DAZ studio you can create the characters you want yourself, and then you don´t have to worry about any rights. But of course the characters you can buy here in store are much better looking than those you would produce yourself... :)

1 - Get DAZ Studio -- it's free, you just have to make an account. It comes with a free 3D human model which can be configured to be either male or female, adult or child.

2 - Get some ordinary clothing content. I suggest one or more of these:

    http://www.daz3d.com/town-and-country-for-genesis
    http://www.daz3d.com/clothing-accessories/tre

    See this category: http://www.daz3d.com/everyday-clothing?compat_figures=28

3 - If you want ethnic characters, get this: http://www.daz3d.com/ethnicity-for-genesis-bundle

You'll also probably want some hair (in addition to what comes with DAZ Studio): http://www.daz3d.com/hair?compat_figures=28

Once you have these components, load Genesis into DAZ Studio. Apply clothing, hair, skin textures, and facial morphs as needed, using the "Smart Content" and "Shapes" tabs. Pose the figure (there is a "Poses" tab that can help). Click "Render." Save your image.

You can use the results in any commercial or personal project, royalty free.
