Heel(less) Option on Footwear

It should be standard practice that female outfits  in which heels make absolutely no sense come with a flat foot option.  I can't count the number of highly detailed, beautiful outfits, such as rangers, armour and the like, that are ruined by silly high heels that simply spoil any attempt at suspension of disbelief when doing some renders.

The idea that all female clothes come with stilleto heels as the default, or only option needs to DIE, the same as the way that many PA's now give a makeup free option for faces when in the past all material options had some form of makeup.

Hey, nelsonsmith. I totally agree with you. Being female myself, I find it ridiculous the amount of high heel shoes that ship with an outfit that has no business being "high fashion". Lol. Unfortunately there is this expectation that an outfit will only sell if it's sexeh and apparently nothing spells sexy like high heeled shoes. I could write a dissertation on the practice, as well as a lengthy tome on my position on the subject.

You will notice that all my female poses mostly are flat and not in a high heeled position. At first glance, this is because there are so many different high heel shoes in the store, all at various angles, that it's impossible for me to create presets that will encompass each and every shoe situation. But if I'm honest, this is my own subversion against the barrage of impractical high heeled outfits. (Viva la resistance!)

As I move more and more into clothing creation, you can bet your bippy that my female outfits will have practical footwear as the main thrust of my work. But, I'll probably also include a high heel shoe option for those who like to render strong women in impractical shoes. (Mainly because that'd get me an extra 100 sales right there. And while I have my ideals, I do have bills to pay. Lol.)

Slowly but surely, I'm hopeful that we'll get other PAs to follow suit. But I don't think we'll get rid of the practice any time soon. It's too engrained in the popular culture. The iconic babe in stiletto heels kicking @ss is a part of the cultural consciousness.

Here's my male point of view:

I like it when women wear flats (athletic shoes, b-flats, loafers) or high heels (like https://www.daz3d.com/pumps-5-for-genesis-8-females).  I don't like in-between heel heights like mid-heels.  It would be a great idea if all shoes came with variable sole combinations and heights - flats, wedges (my wife's favorite), and heels.  That way we could all get what we want.  This would certainly allow us to created some interesting shoes!  But first, let's see some good athletic shoes, and some real footwear compatibility across the Genesis Generations.

High Heels just don't convert to flats well. You really need 2 different pairs.

As an alternative, Daz or PAs could pick an existing boot that works with their outfit and provide a texture.

Esha has a whole series of shoes where you can mix and match the heels and the uppers. She's got sandals and boots too. Take a peek at her catalog and see if anything fits the bill. (She does not, however, have any athetic wear for the feet.)

I agree that there should be a variety of footware and to some extent, there is. However full battle armour with high heels does look silly. What I also think is that people making and selling pose sets should include a "feet zeroed" pose as standard, since not all characters are wearing high heels. It's annoying to have to zero the feet more often than not, or go looking for that one package that did include a "feet zeroed" pose.

Here ya go, IsaacNewton (and everyone else). I've put together a zero foot pose for the Genesis 8 Female that removes the foot poses from all those high heeled shoes, especially the ones that use those pesky pose controls. (I'm old school. I don't use the pose controls for making my poses. I find it really annoying when I use an outfit for my promos that has the high heels. I remove the high heels, but the pose controls on the foot remain and aren't removed when I reapply my pose to the figure. I have to manually remove them in order for my pose to look like it was meant to look.)

Anyway, here's the link to the zipped files: "Vive La Resistance"  Just unzip the files and put them in the Pose Folder under Genesis 8 Female. If you have any of my pose sets, you can put these under my vanity folder "FeralFey". So the hierarchy will look like this: Content/People/Genesis 8 Female/Pose/FeralFey/FeralFey's Foot Pose.

Keep in mind that these files have not been through Daz's QA and therefore they don't have a DIM installer on them, and they might not show up in Smart Content. (They will, however, show up if you use the Content tab.)  Please let me know if you have any difficulties using these poses. (There's a left foot pose, a right foot pose, and a both feet pose.)

Thanks for the "feet zeroed" pose, Feral Fey.  A lot of times I find that a high-heel pose in a pose set is incompatible with the shoes (flat or high-heel) that the character is wearing.  I often have to zero the feet and re-apply the pose that comes with the shoe set, then re-pose the feet.

I treat any pose preset as a "starting point", that has to be adjusted to the target character.

Maybe I should make a set of deadly high heel combat poses? (Of course, if I were left to my own devices, I'd probably include poses where G3/8F is impaling her enemy in the eye with the heel of her shoe, as that's about the only situation where I'd find high heels in combat handy. But that's just me. Lol.)

Oh, and you're welcome, nakamuram. I hope you find the poses useful.

Nice!  (Grabs it and installs it.)  Any chance of a version of this for G3F (and G2F and G1F)?

@nomad-ads-8ecd56922e - Let me see what I can come up with. Right now I'm working on a pose set for the PC+, but as soon as I get a break, I'll try and at least get a G3F version done by the end of the day. wink

Might be useful against vampires too.

Heel Jitsu or Heel Kwan-Do poses, yes!

@FeralFey  BIG THANKS, FeralFey!  That's is a major improvement!

@ FerelFey. Many thanks, that is very kind (and of course, useful). If you do happen to make similar files for G3f, I would be another happy "customer". PS: Shoe Fighting... could be the next big thing. I believe that the hill tribes of Northern England still do practice the art of fighting with clogs ;)

@Richard H. I guess they would either have to be made of wood or silver plated :)

Only really in fiction; in real life, other weapons work better. I'll admit they have been used as a weapon.
