Daz 4.6 + Reality = Crash

Hope someone can help.
When exiting the Reality plugin, Daz 4.6 freezes up and crashes. It occurs every single time without fail. This is a new error for me, as it didn't occur with 4.5. The program opens Reality, and I can render, but if I exit Reality, Daz crashes. This is a huge problem for me, because I constantly go back and forth to tweak the scene and whatnot.
I'm on Windows 7 64-bit. 8GB ram. Hardware is not the issue.
If anyone has any idea what the fault could be, I'd appreciate the help. Otherwise I may just go back to 4.5.
Thanks.

I've just created a simple scene in DAZ 4.6, started to render it via Reality, then quit LuxRender. DAZ did not crash. I also tried via Luxus - still no crash.
So, whatever the problem, there is no fundamental incompatibility between the applications as far as I can see. It may be a memory related issue. Have you tried monitoring your memory usage as you render? If it gets close to your limit (and 8Gb RAM these days isn't really that much), that might be the issue. Try a very simple scene - one figure and a light, for instance.
Do you get any error codes? If not, then it might help to post information from your log file. To find this go to Help -> Troubleshooting -> View Log File.
@Cayman - The freeze/crash occurs by simply exiting Reality. I don't even need to start a render. Just open then close Reality. Maybe reinstalling Daz or Reality (or both)? Memory should not be an issue at all. When using 4.5 I could have a render going and Daz (or most other programs) would still run smoothly.
@HeraldOfFire - I don't get any error codes. Daz freezes up and won't unfreeze no matter how long I wait (tested with a 2 hour wait). So the only option is a manual crash out. I am at work, but will look at it tonight and will post the log file then.
Thanks to both.
I have not had this happen since I upgraded to Reality 2.5 but I have seen this behavior in Reality 2.2 which was the Daz Studio 3 final release, while I DS3 was still the backbone of my production pipeline.
The workaround was to keep the reality window open and not close it once I got all my scene sorted out. So:
What are your system specs? When is the last time you updated video card? What version of Studio? Is it a specific scene it crashes on? What version of Reality? LuxRender? Are you using a GPU assisted render? Do you render the scene as a file and open Lux and render the file or do you send it directly to Lux to render straight out without your intervention? If hardware is not an issue when is the last time your ran a memory check for a few hours to see if there is a corruption in your physical RAM? 8 GB RAM IS NO LONGER A LOT OF RAM when you start using DS and Reality and Lux depending on how your scene is set up and what you expect from it,
When you crash do you reboot or relaunch the application without reboot?
@StratDragon
What are your system specs?
i7-3630QM (2.40GHz) 6MB
8GB SAMSUNG 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 MEMORY
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M - 2.0GB
120GB INTEL 520 SERIES SSD
When is the last time you updated video card?
I'm not sure I have to be honest. The computer is only 4 months old, and it was updated at the time. I'd have to check.
What version of Studio?
The latest 4.6, and previously the latest 4.5.
Is it a specific scene it crashes on?
No. I have tested numerous different scenes. From simple (eg. one genesis + outfit) to complex (eg. dream house back yard and pool). I use reality dome and callad lights.
What version of Reality? LuxRender?
Latest Reality 2.5. Luxrender was the latest available in Feb (not sure the version).
Are you using a GPU assisted render?
No.
Do you render the scene as a file and open Lux and render the file or do you send it directly to Lux to render straight out without your intervention?
Send it directly.
If hardware is not an issue when is the last time your ran a memory check for a few hours to see if there is a corruption in your physical RAM?
Never.
8 GB RAM IS NO LONGER A LOT OF RAM when you start using DS and Reality and Lux depending on how your scene is set up and what you expect from it
I appreciate that 8GB might not be a lot of RAM anymore, but my experience with 4.5 and Reality was perfectly fine with these specs. It has successfully rendered scenes with a silly number of materials in it (eg. 500 or so), albeit it's a bit slow when doing so. I cannot understand why there would be such a fundamental difference in RAM usage between 4.5 and 4.6. Maybe there is, but I'd need someone to explain why.
When you crash do you reboot or relaunch the application without reboot?
Relaunch. I haven't attempted to reboot, because I have booted the computer, and immediately gone to daz, loaded a scene, exited Reality to tweak and it has crashed. No other programs have been running, apart from those at start up.
There may be a simple explanation for this. I'm just baffled because the only change to my system is updating daz from 4.5 to 4.6. The workflow worked perfectly before, but it has ceased to function now that the software has been updated.
I think I'll start from scratch. Uninstall and reinstall Daz, Reality and Lux. Go from there.
Thanks.
I use them on both my 32G tower I built a few weeks back & my older i7 8G notebook. The issue I had was I had to roll back from win 8 to win 7 on the tower after Paolo & Anton confirmed that it did not run well on 8.. I am running ATI 6770m and AMD fire pro 2 DDR 5 cards wonder if its your nvidia.. I can confirm that 32G does run it alot smoother and allows larger scenes to export without using export only. However I put an SSD drive in my notebook which helps it to run a bit smoother but it obviously does not have the same components / memory..
@Bobvan
Possibly. I'm running windows 7. I'll check for an update of the GC drivers as well. I'll just build a checklist of possible problems and work through them I guess. If nothing works I'll go back to 4.5.
Jealous of your new tower BTW.
Thanks.
Im lucky enough to sell commission projects which financed 80% of it... I still have my win 8 disc and may go to it if R3 is compatible.. Then Paolo will need to make it run with DS 5.. I had kept my 4.5 stuff in case as well but s far so good.. The other great thing about the tower id being able to queue render without turning the machine into an easy bake oven.. I had heavy duty heat sync and fans installed.
Well, I've found the source of the problem. Daz and/or Reality hate Comodo Internet Security. I only installed it recently when my trial for another program ended. I have no idea why they clash. After updating drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling both Daz and Reality, I disabled Comodo. It now doesn't crash.
I guess I need to find another internet security program. Any suggestions for good free ones?
I use M$ E$$entials less intrusive. I had AVG before and it was preventing me to perform a system restore
I'll give it a go. Cheers.
MS Essentials totally failed me about a month ago and someone opened a port to RDC into my PC that I could not shut down. One reformat later I'm back on AVAST. M$E is a train wreck.
Thanks for the tip if I run into problems I will keep it in mind
