Hexagon only shows selected object

Sorry if this is simple but I have been looking all over and can't find anything about how to fix this problem. I have clicked on just about everything possible. I send a model from DAZ or I export and try loading it that way. All I am trying to do is get a manaquin in so I can make a shirt. As soon as I click anywhere or try to create an object the model disappears. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Or even a thread that has already answered this question.

  • What happens if you press CTRL+Shift+I

I have never come across this so went hunting, in the Selection menu there is an option to "Show selection only".

The only other thing I can suggest is resetting your Preferences = Edit, Preferences, Reset all "Preferences to default".

    Hi.

I think this is the same issue described here - https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/194951/figure-disappears-when-not-selected-in-scene

I'll put the fix / work around I mentioned in that topic here for you.

The problem is caused by the Iray shader information and all you have to do is either load a 3Delight shader or make Genesis all grey with a 3Delight grey shader.

Also note it speeds up the transfer if you don't use textures when sending to Hexagon.

Turn off subdivision on the genesis figures and Genesis 8 eyelashes when sending to Hexagon - although don't send the Genesis 8 eyelashes if you've making head morphs for that figure.

You didn't mention which figure you're using but SpyroRue has made some Grey Materials for the Genesis family of figures - apply the 3Delight version included with the set that matches the figure you are sending to Haxagon.

    Genesis 2 https://spyrorue.deviantart.com/art/Genesis-Grey-Materials-G2-Bundle-691227973

    hope this helps . ad

Thanks Adzan.  So you change the materials in DAZ Studio to 3Delight then send the object to Hex via the bridge or as an OBJ.

When Exporting an OBJ Unticking the Surfaces allows the user to set their own material in hex. The groups are used for doing the Shading Domains. As I'm not into making clothes I untick both options.

Personally I apply a 3Delight shader to send a figure from DazStudio using the Hexagon bridge, this ensures the manaquin doesn't disapear when not selected. This would also work for scene objects like buildings that have Iray shader information applied to them.

I don't usually export as an object file when using DazStudio, unless I'm going to use the model in Poser and I haven't had problems with the DS obj exporter for Poser

  • I just ran into this same issue because I didn't use a non-iray shader on the model in DAZ before using the Hexagon bridge to open the G8 Female in Hexagon. After reading this thread, I simply created a new material in Hexagon, and applied that material to all the existing G8 shading domains. I am using the model as a mannequin and won't be transferring back to DAZ, so I don't care what happens to the mannequin material zones.
