Animation Issues

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

Ok, I have 2 issues here. One, I am trying to create separate animations, aka i want a run cycle, a swing, and an idle stance. I cannot see how you do this in Daz Studio

Second, I'm trying to bring the file into unity so I can get a game built, so I can then do a Kickstarter in an effort to be able to afford the overpriced license (FYI Daz admins, Indie Developers tend not to have any money, or they wouldn't be trying to use Daz3d) And when I bring it in, i see "animation" in the listing but no actual animations listed. I'm assuming if I can figure out the first one it will fix the second, but I figure I'll ask in case a Unity Developer sees it.

However the initial problem is how do I save an animation in a wya that I can use it but attach it to the FBX.

To export your animation, just export is as an fbx, and check the Animation box

Ok but how do I separate and name the animations?

EDIT: I found the way to get the animations seperate and named, but their not being put in with their proper names, and their not being set to loop

    Within Unity or daz?

In unity or anything else honestly, when their in the FBX file, they lose their loop and their named "Animation"

Is it still animated? When you create a loop your only telling the program to playback the animation after it is finished. So maybe when your importing your animation, you have a start and an end, you have to tell unity to loop it.

it is a setting that has to be set when the animation is created, I can see the option in unity but I can't change it because of that.

did you bake the animation in daz before you exported it?

  • edited December 1969

Yes I believe I did, I right clicked in there and selected bake to studio frames,

I seem to have left front page so I'm going to bump this, however, like I was saying. I have confirmed I have baked the keyframes, the animation runs 1 time, I have confirmed that once it reaches unity, it is not listed as looping. I do not know where I would set the animation to loop outside of unity, but once inside, since the animation was not made within unity, I can't change it. So I need to know where I set loop within Daz3d. Also, if I want a second animation, i.e. an idle and a run, how do I get the second animation to be seperate since the only thing I ever see in the animations listing is "animation" by the time it reaches unity.
