AntFarm's Shanty Town

This is so cool! I've been waiting for this to hit the store!
(I don't have any idea why I'm so fascinated with shanty towns at the moment... I just am, ok?)
Unfortunately, I'm still at work, but I managed to sneak enough time for a quick render. I need to populate it. :)
(Background is some of the free City Blocks buildings and skydome... http://www.daz3d.com/dystopia-city-blocks-011-020-poser )

It does look good, I'm going to have to buy it. An interesting variation on the Back Alleys and Derelict Buildings theme.
51% off for PC members, as well - though I'm not sure how long that offer will last.
Yeah - left scortch marks on the cart, I grabbed it so fast!
Definitely number one on the want list. I want to play with the shadows this town would create. :)
On my "gotta have" list. Unfortunately an expensive month already. I can see this with AntFarm's BorderLine railroad running alongside or above it. Wrong side of the tracks.
Very cool! I love how dirty it looks!
Greetings,
:+1: ! I totally wanted that to work (the promo says 40% off Ant Farms' entire store) and while I knew intuitively that it meant 'Excluding new items', I was really hoping it meant I could snag Borderline at 40% off... :) But no, the fundamental nature of DAZ Sales (PC and Value items are excluded, as are new items) has not changed.
Still, I grabbed Shanty Town, as I love the look, and can toss some of those buildings in back-alleys of Stonemason's cities, or in the shade of city ruins, or almost anywhere...and PC members get a stellar deal.
Great stuff!

Yeah, I thought the same thing... but no worries, I'll pick it up in the next sale. :) Meanwhile, I think I'll try some NeverWorld back there....
So... here's a slightly different arrangement with Never Home and Never Clean in the background. Too bad I can't move the laundry line from Never Clean into the shanty town... in the foreground, ArtCollaborations' The Garbage Pile. Dystopia Skydome again.
I need to think about shantytown furniture, clotheslines, etc....
Glad to hear you guys like the new set. I started a add on set. Potbelly stove, clothes line. Also a stack of old news paper and a tin can for beans. Oh and a wooden stool. I hope I can make it worthy of a set for DAZ to release. I am open to input....
A shipping skid or pallet, with some pieces of same as a stack of firewood. Or an old tin (galvanized iron) bucket with some lumps of coal. Gotta have something to burn in that stove. A bunged up old coffee pot for the stove. An old kitchen table with three legs and a chunk of a skid as the fourth An 'easy chair' made of a couple of concrete blocks and a couple of old (miss-matched) cushions or pillows.
Basic home furnishings, as supplied by the local dump, with minimal 'upgrades'. :-)
The first thing I thought when I saw the shanty town was 'Borderlands'. I half expected some crazy Mad Max-alike to be running around the promo's with a crazy electric shotgun which fires incendiary rounds. It just looks awesome.
Greetings,
A faded, stained mattress maybe? (Although the ones from West Park Legacy and the Tear Drop Camper might already be suitable.) A bindle, maybe...? A wooden ladder for creating second-story shanties...? More faded signs... Those big blue plastic tarps, probably 'acquired' from a U-Haul. :)
I've got to admit, I somehow often mentally connect this to the Borderline, so something train or wrong-side-of-the-tracks related is foremost in my mind.
Of course Under the Bridge with the Ruined Bridge texture would also work wonderfully in combination.

A broken rocking chair?
More suggestions for add-on set:
· old Shopping trolley
· plastic bags, on the ground or blowing in the wind
· swarm of Flies

All good suggestions, though there is already a skid in the set. :) we could use a smashed up version, though.
Newspaper mattress and "sheets." So you can read in bed. ;)
Tin cans of various sizes for cooking and serving food. Mugs with broken handles, plates with chipped edges. Spindle back chairs missing some spindles. Things tied together with string. A cardboard box or wooden crate fitted as a baby crib.
Glad to hear there will be a clothes line-- somehow that seems critical to me to make the place seem inhabited.
It occurs to me that there's a category of clothes missing from the market-- oversized clothes being worn by kids, e.g. with cuffs rolled up, pants held up with string, etc.
I'm thinking post-apocalyptic too... would love a water tower and a desert windmill
OK now my mind is clicking great input all.
I thought "Fallout", but the same idea.
How about some unidentifiable rusted out pieces of machinery? Like a partial stripped down engine block, or part of a vehicle frame, or the like? Maybe some banged up, broken appliances. A beat up workbench with a rusty old vise? Or a tent made out of blankets, either standalone, or as an extension, or a makeshift awning?

Hey you, get out of my brain!
My husband plays Borderlands. Now I'll have to try a toon sort of render just to get that out of my system. ;)

Hehe, I never played Borderlands, but I played a lot of Fallout, a LOT of Fallout.
I will be looking forward to an add-on. Shanty town is a great set. Thanks, Antfarm.
I have 20 props so far some small some not. I'm having fun.
Here's a peek. I'm channeling my inner hillbilly.
Looks real good so far -- I'm assuming the table leg we can't really see doesn't match the other three from what shows - right?
Channeling the inner hillbilly is about the right approach. If it didn't come from a dump, landfill, or scavenging through dumpsters it won't be 'correct' in the Shanty Town.
Borderline is back on 30% off for the next 3 days... :D
Hey That's cool.
So here is a sneak peek at the props.
And..... by the click them for a better image. And this about 1/2
AntFarm... with the potbelly Stove, please make the.. uhm.. "door" ( don't remember what it's called in english) be possible to open.. oh and perhaps some wood/logs to go with the stove? both burnt ones for In the stove and some so far unused ones? *bribes with ch9ocolate/strawberry cake*
It doesn't right now but I will try a morph it may do the trick. ; )
