Trying to restore with a copy of my old program files/programfiles(x86)/user folders

Unfortunately, I had to do a complete format and reinstall of Windows some time ago and I'm not returning to do some stuff on Daz Studio. Problem is, all I have is the files from my old drive and can't access Daz Studio to set up a backup of the metadata... is there anyway I can get my categories back or am I pretty much hosed?
I assume that I have to start over or just quit. As I understand it, all important files are placed in a hidden folder that I didn't copy over (programdatafiles). I just want to make sure I'm completely hosed before I quit. As I understand it, the only folder I don't have copied over from my old drive is where all important files are kept.

What type of metadata backup do you have? Is it the various "userdata_x.dsx" files?
If it's those, make sure they're placed in the first native content directory and then go to the Content Library Pane, Content DB Maintenance and select "Re-import Metadata". In the resulting window make sure that "User Data" (and all selections) is checked.
Are those the ones that come with products? I try to remember to get rid of those before they start messing with my organized categories. Those things are a problem. However, I think I have gotten rid of them for good but I'll check to make sure they're all gone now that I know the file extension for them. I might need to uninstall and then reinstall if those have already started messing with the default content directories. I'm referring to my categories I made in Daz Studio so I can find all the content I have installed.
If you used the "Export User Data" function in DS4.5+, then your custom categories are saved as UserData_1.dsx in the Support folder, so you can re-import it the same way you would store metadata (in your case, you'd only restore the user data, not the store metadata).
If you didn't use that function to make backups, did you customize the database location when you installed DS? It used to default to Program Files (x86), I think, and then to Program Data.
Sorry it's taken me forever and a day to respond. Been busy.
I didn't do an export before it had the problem and the program data files is the only folder I don't have a backup of. Unfortunately, I've had to go back and categorize everything all over again. This time I fixed the problem of the program putting it in the damned hidden folder.
Now I have a different problem. I can't find my genesis content! Please don't tell me it was all located in that hidden folder...
Did you install Genesis Starter Essentials?
Did you install Genesis Starter Essentials?
I just installed what installs by default, and I'm sure that includes the Genesis Starter Essentials. I think I know now what was wrong though. I didn't have all the folders I needed selected in the content manager. Rather odd, when you consider that I had done a search through the hard drive for files and included those that were found.
Anyways, it's back to the laborious task of organizing for me.
