Garibaldi Express Hair System and Look At My Hair… what's the difference?

Okay, I've looking at these two products…

Look At My Hair (http://www.daz3d.com/look-at-my-hair)

and Garibaldi Express Hair System (http://www.daz3d.com/garibaldi-express-hair-system-for-daz-studio).

I really like the idea of dynamic, customizable hair in Daz. I like the idea of making furry creatures actually look furry.

What I don't understand from the write ups I have found about these two products and the images I have seen both on Daz and on their individual web sites is what the *differences* are between the two products. Has anyone used both of them? Have opinions on what the advantages/disadvantages are to each? Why would someone choose one of these products over the other? Are there anything which one is particularly good at compared to the other? I'd love to get some comments from the community.

Thanks.

There are some threads on this subject already:

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/22207/ (more recent thread)
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/17345/ (older thread...some info has since changed)

The bottom line is that they are two different but similar approaches to the same issue. The basic function and technology is similar, although there are some specific details that differ from one to the other. Each has an official thread in the forum that you can look at for more information:

    Garibaldi thread
    Look At My Hair thread

Different people have different preferences in terms of the interface and features, but both are capable of some rather spectacular results in my opinion.

Thanks for the discussion threads. I'm reading them.

It's the "two different but similar approaches to the same issue" thing that's frustrating. I wish there was a spreadsheet somewhere which compared and contrasted the programs in some linear fashion so it wasn't just a bunch of people saying, "I like this one better than that one." I'm wondering what the *actual* differences are, you know? But at least reading the threads gives me an idea of how people are using the software… what they're finding easy and what they're finding hard.

The linked threads will give you the details on the products and who likes what and why - but there is only one thing that clearly seperates the two products.

According to statements made by the Garibaldi author, he is ONLY interested in making a realistic hair system for use in DAZ STUDIO. Period. Full stop. End of line.

The LAMH team want to push the technology as far as they can so it does far more than just hair.

Bottom line, if all you want to do is make realistic hair for use in DS, then either plugin will do a good job. It's just a matter of which interface you prefer.

If you want to do more than just hair with the plugin, you need to go with LAMH.

And this is from a guy who really likes Garibaldi.
