I have tried the DIM and everytime I use it I cant find the files in Daz ..where the heck do they go ..I still used the exe files if they are available but when not I have to download the zip and put the files in myself then I can find them ...

The default install location in DIM is not the same as the one in DS -- you can either:
    1) in DIM, add the content location you use in DS and have DIM install there rather than it's default location, or
    2) in DS, add the location DIM is using as both "DAZ Studio Format" and "Poser Format" content folder.

I cannot get the A5 and V5 files downloaded because I get a message in DIM saying that my account is not referenced and that I have to set up my account which is ALREADY set up! What gives?? This app is really buggy and I'm getting frustrated not being able to get my V5 and A5 files which I paid $65 for. I don't like having my $$ wasted like this!

While I don't know what the problem is with DIM and your account, you can always download your products without DIM if you want so that you can still use them right away while trying to solve the DIM issue.

Sean, I can't manually download the A5 product files because it says on the page that I have to use the latest version of DIM, which I AM using.

Hmmm. Does your download look like this? I see it does mention that you need to use the latest version of DIM, but that should only apply if you select the DIM download. do you see a set of manual download buttons like this screenshot, or are you seeing something else?

Sorry if i over looked this question, but if i uninstall all my content and re install using DIM, does that mean all the projects i am working on will no longer work since the files/content is now in a new place?

    Thanks.

    Hi

I keep getting download failed when attempting to install Michael 4 Morphs ++ with the DIM. Can anyone tell me why?

No, DS and Poser only care about relative locations. As long as your old Data folder is still in a DS-format content folder, old scenes with still work.

Ok, I see where I can check off items and then start a download/install queue, but I'm confused. What does 'CF' mean after a filename? I'm not sure which ones to download for Poser; I don't use DAZ Studio although I do have it installed.....and how do I make sure the files install into the Poser Pro 2012 runtime on my Mac?

CF means Companion File -- that is, the CF is not stand-alone but requires another file to work. A PoserCF requires the DS version; a StudioCF requires the Poser version. If you only want the files needed for Poser, uncheck DS in the Download Filters.

To install them into the PP2012 runtime, set the install path to the folder containing that runtime. For example, if the runtime folder is in "Users:Documents:Smith Micro:Poser Pro 2012", that's the install path you want. It's the same as the path you'd give in Poser if you were adding that location as an external runtime.

The same path you have the Michael 4 Base installed to -- the path to the folder containing that runtime folder.

    I have a feature request.
I install all my content into poser external runtimes. Could you please make drag and drop for mac to work instead of having to locate the filepath by name, and could it default to the name of the folder for the name field. that would save me a few minutes per downloading each set.
    thanks.

And another thing really peeving me. I see in My Product Library that with the complete move to the zips, there is now no longer an indication in My Product Library what VERSION the download product is, so I can't see if there's been an update to things.

I have a bug report here that DAZ seems determined they've resolved, I haven't heard back for more than a month. Feel free to pile on with a clue-by-four, the more the merrier.

i'm getting failed download messages. what should i do. And FEATURE REQUEST - could these be in red and bold in the DM installer. Otherwise one may not notice and assume everything is installed.
perhaps a pop message too saying - you have some failed downloads. It's not safe otherwise. I only just noticed this and i've been installing all morning. other stuff could be incomplete too. Blast!!!

In the past I have sometimes had failed downloads, and they worked when trying them a second time. This might not be what you are seeing, but it's pretty easy to try just in case. You can also look at the log file in case there is some clue as to why it failed.
FYI, if you want to suggest a feature request or report a bug, you'll need to do so through DAZ support (rather than only mentioning it in the forums, which they may not see) so they are aware of it.

If the download failed the item should stay in the Ready to Download tab.

A number of people have been saying they're getting a lot of failed downloads today (some aren't able to login at all) -- I've notified DAZ 3D.

When attempting to download files via the DIM,my log states the following:

WARNING: Error while downloading to file "IM00007878-01_Michael4Morphs.zip", error - 404 : Not Found
WARNING: Network Error while downloading to file "": Operation canceled

Apparently there is some kind of network issue on DAZ's end. How do we notify them of this?

As far as a manual download, is this the proper path to install the Michael 4 Morph++ file?

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Libraries\!DAZ\Michael 4

and if i have a list of things, like in this example i was trying to download curious tea stuff. with the word curious, other things ready for download like curious something or other are also there, so I only check box the thiings i want. when the process has completed i don't really notice that there are items in the list on the ready for download page as I just assumed that the things i had checked had been downloaded. I really think alerts would be a safer option.

Thanks Mike. I think I understand. I'll be good to go as long as I don't delete folders, just use the un-installers for the products. Thank you again for the help. I think I will finally switch over to DIM now starting with V6.

Pretty frustrated. I have changed the path more times than I can think of and the manager still says it can't install because the path is not defined. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Guess FREE means useless and I should simply pay for Poser. At least it will install!

I have sevedral programs that I buy content for: DAZ, Vue, Carrara, Bryce, and Poser. DIM offers to download stuff for the other programs and I know about setting up installed program locations. The question is, where does DIM install the content for things like Bryce and Vue? I don't have the "runtimes" for them in the default location. Do I have to go through and download the Bryce content after changing the Install path? Then change the install path again and download the Vue content? I realy don't want DIM installing to my C: drive as it is an SSD and therefore limited. It would be ideal if DIM would setup install directories for any of the other programs that were in the Installed program list.

there's alittle cog thing on top right, and you go to install part and make a short cut which you then choose whenever you want to install vue things.
There is a little + sign bottom right that you need to create your short cut. don't forget to select it after creating it as it isn't automatically selected.

What are you trying to install? Or is this happening with everything?

What exactly are you installing? If it is non-DS/Poser content (e.g. plugins, Bryce or Carrara content) then you need to go to Settings > Applications and sety the path for the application.

Non-DS/Poser content (e.g. plugins, Bryce and Carrara content) must be installed in a specific subfolder of the application, unlike DS/Poser content which can be installed anywhere. Therefore these products ignore the folder you have set and instead install to the correct location based on the location of the application. These locations are set in Settings > Applications.

My DIM updated the other day and it went fine but i haven't used it in a couple of days. Tonite I fired up DIM and a file, The Library, didn't show up. So I went to my Product Library. Usually in cases like that there is no DIM file and I have to download something else. But there is a DIM file (more than one).

Why didn't it show up in my DIM?

And I see changes in the Product Library pages. For DIM there's a choice of one file or three. What's the difference or am I in the wrong thread.

    :(

Can we fake it with a phony photoshop.exe or Bryce.exe in folders?
