Hi
I need some help creating a new UV layout for Genesis I am struggling to unwrap the face without winding up with the eye and mouth regions folding in on themselves/ scrunching up.
So I was wondering if anyone has any advice or tips for UV mapping genesis' face
I'm not currently using any one program in particular I've just been playing with a few different ones I have including Silo, Carrara & hexagon & it's a human face I'm unwrapping.
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Have you tried a dedicated UV mapper? Roadkill is free. Even though it states it's a plugin, IIRC, the Maya version works as a standalone.
Headus UVLayout is one of the best dedicated UV mapper.
Does Genesis even have a separate UV map? It always seems like it defaults to V4 and if you want to use another UV layout, you have to switch. The Gen5 morphs all seem to have their own UVs.
Roadkill :D
That's a sweet name for a UV mapper!
Are you marking seams to split the mesh, or are you trying to unwrap the whole head at once? What are you trying to achieve with the new mapping, or is it just a mesh to learn on?
When creating cartoon renders I use a texture to add extra line detail to the face but when there is stretching in the UVs my crisp lines come out looking like a blur so I'm trying to learn how to create separate UV layouts for any morphed characters I create so I can reduce this problem as much as possible.
You may do better to look at using an application that will let you paint directly on the morphed mesh, that way converting to the UV map is handled for you. Carrara and Hexagon will both do that.
