I have no idea what's going on here.

For those of us who don't read the DAZ forums regularly, is there a page that explains what this Genesis 2 is, and how it does or doesn't relate to Genesis?

And why is Genesis obsolete already when it was recently the greatest invention since antibiotics? So, is Genesis dead? Is there no more content coming for Genesis? Why couldn't the changes in Genesis 2 just be incorporated into the Genesis figure? Why does the wheel have to be reinvented over and over and over again?

And especially what clothing and morphs etc. are compatible with Genesis 2 from what we've bought for Genesis and the generation 4 figures?

This just adds more confusion and uncertainty to what was already overwhelmingly impossible to figure out. I cringe and grate my teeth every time DAZ releases some new product.

It's like - here's a new Barbie Doll but none of the thousands of dollars worth of clothing you've bought over the last 5 years will fit it without you having a PhD in computer science.

DAZ - make it simple, make it easy, make it instant, make it compatible - it's supposed to be fun, not a traumatic ordeal.

And please don't ask me to read through hundreds of forum posts and multiple threads for an answer.

On the Sales & Promotions page there's a section about 1/3 of the way down explaining what's different in Genesis 2.

Genesis 1 is not obsolete, in fact for many things Genesis 1 will be the preferred tool for quite a while yet.

While I think the base Genesis 2 Female is a much better looking female figure out of the box than the base Genesis 1 female figure is I can still do more with Genesis 1 today than I can Genesis 2. Even if I were to buy all of the Genesis 2/ V6 stuff that's in the store. I don't see that changing over night.

I also don't think there will be enough people that jump on the Genesis 2 bandwagon from day 1 to make the PA's and Daz stop producing Genesis 1 content. Maybe in 6 months to a year but I doubt it will be that soon.

So don't worry to much about it. Download the free Genesis 2 starter essentials, play around with it and when you feel you really need what it has to offer then start looking at moving to Genesis 2.

Genesis 2 blurb this may help a little. Expand the headings halfway down the page

Genesis 1 to Genesis 2 is like V3 to V4 - morphs are not compatible and won't work on Genesis 2.

V4 clothes can be converted to Genesis 1 and then from Genesis 1 to Genesis 2.

V5 textures will work but for V4 textures you need to buy the V4 add on for Genesis 2 by Mallenlane. But in order to use your V4 textures you need to convert the mat files to .duf file format. I am not sure if this is also the case when you are using Poser mat files but mats in Studio .dsf file format need to be converted first.

Genesis poses will work but you need to adjust the fingers.
