Autofit V4 -> G2

Hi!
On the promo page for V6 / Genesis 2 female base, I've read this : "the auto fit process for Victoria 4 content has also been improved"
So I've promptly installed ds4.6 and Genesis 2 female starter essentials. And tried to make her wear V4 clothes. I'm obviously missing something as autofit doesn't suggest V4 in "what figure was the item originally designed for ?"
And of course, it doesn't fit well :P . I don't really see the improvement
Do I have something else to install, or something to do?
Thanks for your help!

You need the V4 Autofit clone which is part of this package: http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female
ciao

You need the V4 for Genesis 2 to autofit V4 clothes. Genesis 2 Base Female only autofits items for Genesis 1.
You need a non daz original product to use something which is officially said "improved" ??? Don't you see any problem?
(thanks both for your help though )
Not alone with that thought, found out myself a moment ago, G2 does not support V4 clothes with autofit
DAZ should make it a lot clearer that only Genesis content is supported by autofit. English is not my main language and thought that it was supported by default/without a third party tool
To be honest i feel a bit misled...from the V6 product page:
Victoria 6 will work great with any of your Genesis 2 female content, as well as many of your go-to favorites from the other Victoria's by making use of the "auto fit" tool.
Compatibility
Due to consistency of key body parts and shapes, such as feet, users are able to utilize content and accessories intended not only for Genesis 2 females, but to also leverage their Genesis content through the "auto fit" process. Additionally, due to the ability to go directly from a female base to another female base, the auto fit process for Victoria 4 content has also been improved.
I guess they really want to end the fourth generation support....
you could try converting from v4 to genesis and then from genesis to genesis 2 basic female
I'm been fuming all day over G2 V6 but I just realized, how can Daz even say that, since G2 does not autoconvert V4 clothes - it is a PA product that does!
I purchased the Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female product and still cannot apply V4 shapes (body or face) or texture maps to basic Genesis 2 female, in addition to the Genesis 2 Female Morphs bundle (body and face morphs).
In fact I can't even find this product in Content Library. This is typical, why isn't there a README for each product that tells you how to use it?
Renderosity Products not only always come with such docs but you can read them BEFORE you purchase the product. I've been suggesting this feature to DAZ3D for many years and they pay zero attention to suggestions of this sort.
Nor does DAZ3D, unlike Renderosity, provide e-mails for PA's so we could ask questions, which shows another stupid lack of regard for customers. The excuse that vendors don't want a ton of e-mail, does not makes sense since vendors do this for Renderosity customers.
I did however find in Shaping, that the V4 shape shows up for Genesis 2 Female, but I still can't apply any V4 shapes (such as the excellent Thorne character bodies or faces). Does this mean that the V4 to Gen2) is installed and working? Or do I have to click on something? Help is needed. Does this work automatically ?
Can anyone help with this?
How about some help from the PA who sells this product ?
Mallen Lane? Please !
Thanks for any help with this.
Dan
Here is a thread started by MallenLane http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24152/
The V4 for G2F gives you the autofit clone, V4 UVset, and V4 base shape -- it doesn't give one-click ability to apply V4 morphs. Dimension 3D is working on GenX for Genesis 2, and Kattey has posted a manual method.
Readme's can be viewed here: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/start
You'll need the SKU number from the Product Page.
Morphs are not compatible - the product gives you the basic V4 shape, the ability to use V4 textures (as long as you resave the materials as .duf presets) and the ability to AutoFit V4 clothing.
Thanks for the link !

Thanks for the link for the Readme, unfortunately after taking the time to actually find the SKU and then select the range of numbers, then find the damn it thing it was totally useless. It contains no useful information for someone who is looking for a simple step by step explanation of how to actually use it.
The link to the forum thread is more useful but after 4 pages, all I got was very brief explanations/instructions which, for my limited knowledge, is still insufficient to allow me to follow the instructions. If the remaining pages don't spell things out I will ask in the thread for a step by step explanations and hopefully that will do it. I can't believe that I'm the only one who needs more help.
In any case thanks Mike!

Thanks Richard, unfortunately although I now understand it is not a one click solution, I still don't know how to do the things everyone appears to understand, except me : )

Ok then. How can Daz say "Additionally, due to the ability to go directly from a female base to another female base, the auto fit process for Victoria 4 content has also been improved.", if you can't even begin any autofit from V4 without this PA product?
how does this product work in poser with a script
Which aspect? Any .duf materials for a V4 texture set will apply the correct UV set (and I think, though I haven't had a chance to test, that you could then apply a standard Poser mat file, even for a different texture, without resetting the UVs) but AutoFit is a DAZ Studio-only feature.
Textures are a bit more complicated than you might expect. E.g., so far one has to go through several steps in DS first for your regular V4 textures + you need DSON importer (free, from D3D) to make them load correctly in Poser.

I thought DSON was the Poser-equivalent of autofit? At least it used to work with Genesis 1. So, this is another thing then that has gotten worse while it was supposedly "improved"? It's really sad that DAZ appears to be so over-marketed that nothing can be trusted until enough users have been tricked into buying things that are not half as compatible as the marketing blob insinuates.

If the file is duf format, try this script
http://d3d.sesseler.de/index.php?software=poserpython&product=dson_loader
You need to have the DSON importer installed if you don't have it already.
To switch UV's in Poser, try this

Poser has never had an AutoFit function (the actual DS code, it has other tools for transferring clothes). It does get the Transfer Active Morphs function via the DSON Importer, but that is morph matching not fitting a set of clothing to a different figure.

I have UV switcher. I works fine for Genesis 1. But it fails for G2F for the same reason that none of the normal textures work: It looks for the maps under their previous names ("1_SkinFace" instead of "Face", etc..). I guess it would be a small thing to update it - but it does not work the way it is.
Therefore, an honest and informative statement would have been that there is unfortunately NO direct compatibility between G1 content and G2F content for Poser users. Instead, the happy marketing bunny says:
Due to consistency of key body parts and shapes, such as feet users are able to utilize content and accessories intended for not only the Genesis 2 females, but to also leverage their Genesis content through the "auto fit" process. Unless you already know that "auto fit" means "DS-only", you won't be told. If you try to load Genesis 2 clothing like the free G2F basic wear content, DSON will work fine - but all the rest appears to typically require significant tinkering with the morph tool, fitting room, etc. in Poser. Not that it can't be done but things like
are rather misleading and glossing over all the details that a Poser-user might actually want to know before learning it the hard way. I am not saying that G2F isn't a nice figure - but I find it annoying that it is marketed as if it would seamlessly flow into your Poser runtime. Even more annoying than that are excuses that try to shift all the blame on SM. I can so far see no real attempt from DAZ to make G2F user-friendly for Poser users (I am not even sure this is happening for DS). If just a few of the hours that apparently are spent on nice promo images and glittery-smooth marketing speech were spent on proper documentation, cross-software validation, and information, it could go a long way towards reducing customer dissatisfaction associated with such a release imo.
I will point that out to the marketing team, thank you. I'm afraid I didn't see that problem when I read it myself.

Clothes work the same as it did for V4 to Genesis 1, but you now need the product by MallanLane. I like V6 in Poser and I have been converting over some V4 stuff and just figuring it out along the way. You need to load V6 in Daz Studio, add the clothes and then autofit. Select the clothes (one piece at a time). Save it as a duf file. The tricky part I found was you need to save it in a Daz directory not the Poser directory where it came from, or it won't show up as a follower icon. Now click the new follower icon and save as a poser companion file. That's it ! By default the new files created end up in My Library but you can edit where that saves. You can move these anywhere to make it easier to find them in Poser.
Here is Victoria 6 wearing V4 Nymph Dress and V4 Dublin skin. Skin is a bit more tricky if you don't want to lose the Poser settings . I copied the materials zones one by one in poser and applied them to V6 to retain all the settings since V6 has different named mat zones.
