Mesh Images: Genesis 2 Female vs. Genesis Evolution

I'm disappointed to see the meshes splitting, especially in light of our society's increasing transgender acceptance elsewhere.
I'm also disappointed to see a few new unintentional creases showing in the new mesh at default pose and subdivision.
The Genesis 2 reduction in prominence of the greater trochanter protrusion, which previously seemed to propagate to all female figures based on the Evolution mesh, is an improvement. Also, note how much more muscular tone is available in the abdomen and back.

Well, somehow I'm still inclined to think that, quite possibly, Genesis 1 should be modified to improve the quality of some areas. But I doubt very much that Genesis 2 contains all the necessary improvements. And I don't like the step-back-and-separate-genders idea to promote Genesis 2 as a sexy toy against Genesis 1 that was perceived as a base tool, not a pin-up (or may be even porn considering V6 (imho, V6 looks like a chippie, so what, it's just my impression)) chick. I got female morphs for G2 and I think I'll get male morphs but doubtfully that more than that.
It looks like an admin removed my poll. Since there was no profanity and nothing negative in the poll itself, I guess they just didn't want people's opinion known.
If you read the TOS, nobody is allowed to instigate a poll, profane or otherwise.
Polls are only allowed under specific limitations, as shown in bullet point #19 in the general code of conduct in the DAZ 3D TOS.
Thank you for removing it, then, chohole. I'm sure I agreed to just such a ToS somewhere. If I was informed when I created the poll that I probably shouldn't be doing that, it would have saved you the trouble.
I'm sorry, but I cannot help mentioning a couple of things that bother me. First, when you see that a product was perfectly suitable for Genesis and was backwards compatible for several previous iterations of V and M, but suddenly you have a new version of that same product being sold for males and females under Genesis 2 with absolutely no backwards compatibility and going for almost 2x the price collectively, no names being mentioned here, it seems a very plain effort on someone's part to make more money. Making money is fine, but nothing like going out of one's way to create artificial barriers to creativity for the sole purpose of making more money to discourage newcomers. Gratuitous comes to mind, as do a couple of other words. I'm not saying who I'm talking about, but a product in the community struck me in that fashion and left a bad taste in my mouth for everything G2 related.
Second, when I look through the store and see no reviews, in a day when community reviews are increasingly common and relied upon by potential customers prior to purchase, seems backwards to me. It gives the message that either some items are not of merchantable quality perhaps or that the community's opinions are considered irrelevant regarding their satisfaction over purchases. I'm not saying that anyone has intentionally done anything, but I am sharing the general opinion that came to mind as I was shopping the store today.
I do not intend to create an issue, but these things have been bothering me for some time. A clear message appears to have been sent, whether it was or not. It actually makes me less inclined to spend my money here. I'm not sure that should matter to anyone, but it is an honest opinion for what it's worth. I care about the future of this software, and I think my post should be viewed in that light.
To be fair, most products are 'reviewed' in threads on the forums, and very few stores use any kind of online review system for their products. Amazon is one, Renderosity is another, but generally speaking they're not very common. It's not because they don't want people to know about the product, but simply because there are a lot of products, and storing people's comments about every single one drastically increases the overheads for the site.
Aside from the most popular of items on Renderosity, most of them don't even receive owner reviews either so you're still in the same situation.
Now, a word about backwards compatibility.
First up, Genesis 2 can use most Genesis items out of the box. However, to avoid some issues with the autofit procedure, some PA's went to the trouble to modify older outfits for the new generation. These are rarely just copy-paste changes either. Sometimes the mesh itself needs altering, either adding new polygons in certain places, or adding mesh density to avoid smoothing issues. This is why you sometimes find items for different figures sold separately.
Genesis never had a backwards compatible wardrobe. I'd like to clear that up first and foremost. The older Generation 4 figures were not weight mapped and as such, the conversion wouldn't work the same way if done in reverse. In fact, even within its own generation, the V4 and M4 models often needed magnets and other such fixes to deal with the myriad number of morphs which would affect the figure, since none of the figure changes would be reflected in the outfits they wore.
Now as for compatibility between Genesis and Genesis 2 figures, there is plenty. Genesis can use Genesis 2 clothing and vice versa (the former by purchasing the G2 clone). With Generation X2 you can transfer your favourite morphs from Genesis to Genesis 2 and vice versa. Genesis 2 can use older skins from Genesis (V5, M5) and older Generation 4 skins with the addition of the morph packs. Slosh even created packs to allow us to use several of the more well-used Genesis skins on Genesis 2 as well.
It's hard to be much more accommodating in terms of compatibility than Genesis 2, even between the two figures. G2F can wear G2M items and vice versa out of the box, though obviously not all items are optimised for both figures. And as for quality, I'll just mention that Daz has some rather stringent quality assurance in place before it even reaches the store. It doesn't make every item a masterpiece, but it also covers you with a money back policy which personally boggles my mind.
There's an old saying, you can't please all the people all of the time. Genesis 2 is at least a good foot forward to giving us a solid platform where we might all find even footing.
