What is the difference? Genesis / Genesis 2

edited June 2013 in Daz Studio Discussion

I had a look at both meshes using the wire-frame overlay and there are barely any differences, approximately 2000 extra faces but mostly around the hands and face area.

No extra detail added to the groin, hip or chest that I can see.

Considering V4 had approx 60K faces and Genesis had approx 18K faces, now genesis 2 has 20K faces. I still think 4 is a far more manipulable mesh.

I'm guessing because Genesis 2 has the word female tagged on it'll mean that it won't be designed with male or creature morphs in mind so therefore what improvements have there been? Is this a step forward or the opposite?

One thing I feel pity about gen2, is
why daz team did not inclease mesh more about collar and sholder joint area?
more 200 poligons may remove problem much,,when her stretch arms and sholders,,

One of genesis problem is, the mesh density can not keep well when she raise hand up.
when I see from side, Around rib to arm hole, mesh stretch, then the shape seems like not clean square.
so that I expected daz may set more mesh around the sholder ,,, for gen2,,,,

about chest the under spandex area mesh increased 1 or two line I think.

If daz can up-date easy about gen2,,(there seems not so many product sitll),
I hope they re-apply about joint area of sholder,, some more meshes.
If gen2 is made and planed for the close detail, it must need , I think.

One more pic attach to compare clear,
left is Genesis1 (applied transfered gen2Fclone shape) right is Gen2F default.

Also if they are making G2F female only, when doesn't it have incorporated gens. Surely G2 should have had at least double the number of polys in that body region? Same thing with G2M when it is released.

Surely they should have just incorporated the number of polys required for the Michael 5 genital mesh and put it into the new G2 model.

Why are they moving away from the one model idea? Is this purely an exercise in releasing a new version for extra cash?

Next is about face part,,, (I do not have no idea about complain but simply hope to compare,
and want to know the real diffrence, and hope to find real strong point of Gen2F ^^;)

    gen2+A5head and gen1 A5
about head mesh (face,) I do not feel many improvements ,,,

if Weight map are adjusted more better ?? but I know when I change character,
it eventually need to adjust by ERC morphs,
so that even though I can easy transfer gen 1 to gen 2, or gen2 to gen 1 ,
character morphs, I need to re adjustment joint and set ERC again,,,,

Asking for more polys is just further subdividing the mesh - which DS can do dynamically to almost any level of density. I think you are seeking topology changes - but that would not have much effect on the render and ability to pose.
What you may _really_ be looking to improve is the grouping/weight-mapping for less unwanted deformation with particular poses.

AS with Genesis, genitals are included in the Pro bundle.

As there are a myriad of threads about Genesis 2 already I am locking this thread and giving you a link ot just one of the others
