G2V6 Smart Content Not Working Right

Just purchased and installed all the Gen2Vic6 content via IM, but it doesn't want to behave like all my other content. When I load Gen2 or Vic6 into a new scene, Smart Content does not seem to notice what's going on. With Vic6 selected, Smart Content says I have no Material/Feminine or Pose categories. I have checked the Content DB editor and the metadata for all these products seems fine. I reloaded Studio, Reset the DB, and Reimported all Metadata. No change. Anybody else seeing this V6 only phenomenon? Cheers!

Not everything is going to be listed in Smart Content. Everything should be in your Content Library

Hmm, ok true, but an odd thing to say. All new content sold via DAZ comes with Metadata ergo it should appear in and behave with the Smart Content tab. Sure I can track these things down manually like in the bad old days, but I only do that for non metadata products.

Sadly, now all my Smart Content is gone. I tried reloading the metadata, which now suddenly takes only 6 seconds (used be to 11 mins), and the Smart Content Tab is now blank. This just keeps getting better, lol.

Ok...fixed. I had to wipe out the current CMS database, restart CMS, and then reload my metadata. Good thing I don't use personal categories or they would be gone now. All my smart content is back, and the G2V6 content is working as intended finally. Wow, this stuff is not for the uninitiated. The everyday artist would have no clue how to handle all this...even I had to google for specifics. Well, hope this helps somebody else too :D

It would be nice if Smart Content were smarter. Had a similar experience last night after installing G2. But CMS stopped working entirely. I had to go the next step and uninstall Studio 4.6 and CMS, delete the CMS data, and reinstall everything to get the smart content working again.

It may not all be G2's fault, as I had recently renamed and consolidated my Poser Runtimes, which Studio and presumably CMS can see, while installing Poser Pro 2014. Still the installing of G2 seemed to be the last straw in driving the smart content completely bonkers.

No regrets with Poser Pro 2014 though. It renders much more quickly (5-10 times faster, I guess?) than Poser 9 32 bit or Studio 4.6 64 bit (which render at comparable speeds) running on my CPU only, Windows 7 i5 gen 2 machine.

No regrets with G2 either, although I have no plans to purchase V6 this month. Facial expressions are more convincing at least with added G2 morphs; it is well worth the money for that benefit alone, even if G2 does have to go barefoot for a while. I will be investing my limited time and money in fully leveraging my V4 content using the V4 to G4 product from MallenLane before building up (if ever) any dedicated character or wardrobe library for G2.

hmmm....SikSavqant...how did you do that exactly? I reset database in content DB maintenance. After re-imported metadata in 15-20 groups...not all at same time....all metadata were imported well....except V6 and Genesis 2 files.

@dorkati, I'm guessing the database is "corrupt". I found that the Studio reset is not the same as "deleting" the databases themselves. I am on a Mac (which most folks aren't) so the location of the database will likely be very different. I found mine at /LIbrary/DAZ 3D/ Content Management Service/databases. Once I found them, I simply renamed the databases folder to old_databases, and restarted the CMS service. This gave me a new/clean database for Studio. However, if you have made extensive personal categorizations, outside of the provided metadata, they are limey forfeit with this method.

I hope this helps, and as always, make a backup before following the advice of a crazy person, lol. Cheers!

Thank you! Now I remember I made same at once...after 2 day pain and forgot to export metadata :) so I will try to do it again, but now I will export metadata at first!!!
I hope it will help...I am boring to install-reinstall-reinstall-reinstall procedures!!!

When I first installed Genesis 2, all of my clothing items showed in the Smart Content tab when the figure was selected. Since I updated Genesis 2, now only Genesis 2/V6 items show. I have to go to the Content Library if I want to put Genesis or V4 items on Genesis 2. Or would wiping the database fix that? It seems that any content that is compatible with G2 should show up in Smart Content, not just the newer items.

Load G2 and select it. Save as->Support Asset->Character/Prop Asset then browse to My Library\People\Genesis 2 Female and replace Genesis 2 Base Female.duf

Accept to overwrite the old one then on the saving property panel set the 'compatibility base' to Genesis.

After that all your Genesis content will be shown in Smart content.

The backside is that you'll have to resave all future Genesis 2 Base Female with the option 'set compatible to' set to Genesis and doing so all G2 female items will also show in Smart content when selecting Genesis
