Anyone Else Try Vianne For Victoria 6?

Okay, I assume you load V6. Then you load the Vianne head. Then you select Materials-Vianne All. Then you get a sleep deprived woman. Those dark circles under the eyes- OMG. So what did I do wrong? See the steps here (not double posting, it's in my art studio thread but I'm sending you directly to the post) Was I not supposed to put materials on something that had materials? But why is that an option to apply materials?

EDIT: Wow, maybe the shadows are supposed to be that way. Product page: http://www.daz3d.com/vianne-for-victoria-6

This in normal for this model, I think so, because the promo pictures have the same dark shadows. It looks a bit better if you use the sss skin option.

    Hey (smile)
I updated my studio thread and had actually just mentioned the three options for SSS (25, 50, 75) and that the shadows seemed to be worse from the "base" Vianne model when makeup was added, even with the 75 selected. This is one model that I'll never use as the shadows are too dark, and I'm not experienced enough to know how to reduce them-significantly- or if that's even possible. I'm sure some folks may find it useful though. Just glad it got noted so others won't be surprised.

Ya know, I have to think something is wonky. She looks fine, a fresh faced beauty, with SSS75 and NO MAKEUP, but when you add makeup, it shouldn't add dark shadows under her eyes. Women don't apply makeup there except to COVER dark areas- we certainly don't blob brown and purple under our eyes, look in the mirror, and say, "Well done!"

Shown below- sss75 and no other materials applied, no makeup, and the one with makeup. You'll know which is which!

EDIT: THESE ARE FULL RENDERS, NOT SPOT.

I honestly have a hard time working this lady at all.. I can't get my first impression of her out of my mind... to me she looks beaten up, just lacking the bruises *frowns*

Review: Vianne (V6) With Posed For Victoria 5
I applied some pose presets for V5 and the hand goes out in the air instead of to the head- easy to drag over and done.
Maybe it's just me, but V6's fingers are more curved. What the heck is that bendy base on that one finger? And the last joint on the ring finger? Hmmm, do you folks like these new fingers? (Correct me if I'm wrong, but these are NOT the same type fingers Genesis has. I do a LOT of meticulous finger posing, as you know- but I may be wrong.)

EDIT: And what's with the dirt under the fingernails?!!! This is all with default lighting BTW. Here's some more views. I definitely like Genesis fingers a LOT better than Genesis 2- I haven't tried to grab and move any of them, but I don't like the curvy, the joint bending- or whatever is goin' on. I'm showing you the exact same pose of the hand, different angles. What do you think?

Want to try the hands and show some of the poses you get with her and the Genesis 2 figure? I'm baffled as to how these hands are an improvement- they are too fluid- my hands can't concave in like that unless I'm pushing on a hard surface- and then I'm saying "OW!"

EDIT: Putting the rest of the fingers and poses on my art studio thread as that's where I put my product reviews.

It's looks much more realistic and the bending is great.

Have you tried Uberenvironment lighting on her yet? Possibly not a character I will use much, but I'm sure she'll have her uses...

"It's looks much more realistic and the bending is great."

We'll just have to disagree- but I'm glad you like it and it works for you.

The last joint of that finger doesn't bend up like that- if it bends, it's slightly- and it stays in line with the rest of the finger- when your hand presses down against your scalp. That ring finger looks broken. Hold your right hand out, push your left hand onto the side of it. If my ring finger bends like pictured above with Genesis/V6 (see last photo I posted), I'll head to the emergency room. The pointer finger is more along the lines of what it should be doing, with light flexing.

See images. I tried to find one with more flexing (second one) but even then, it's not close to what they have Genesis 2 doing. But again, if you like the style and it works for you, or you think I'm wrong, (won't be the first time!) that's all good too. I'm happy people like the changes (I'm not saying improvements at this point. The hands are puffy in the palm and carpal morph area.)

My fingers curve like that when I "straighten" my hand, am I a freak? Well my toes are all triple jointed except the big toe, so it is quite possible I am lol.

I checked out originally the topic because I was having the strange results with her looking like a battered woman and was puzzled about it

Nah, you're not a freak. (Smile. Geez, when ARE they getting those fixed?) I'm just finding most of the fingers are bending too much with a concave appearance. But as I said, everyone has different tastes and folks are going to love the bends or hate it.

But I can't see anyone loving the battered look, as you said. She reminded me of a zombie. I guess the upside is that she was "Free" in the pro bundle. Had I paid for her specifically, I would be "returning" her.

There are a lot of people who complain that all the characters released look too good. So this is where she fills the gap. She's more "normal".

Honestly though Derek for F5 had the same issues under his eyes. Couldn't use the texture sadly. Might Photoshop it a bit and that could fix it. But he looks like he's never had a night a sleep since he started taking 'roids. (point is, did I miss that thread? and no I didn't use her, didn't work for me)

lol normal!? I still can't get my "beaten up without bruises" impression of her *sorry* and yes Novica, I noticed some of the fingers bending like that, but than again.. I also had that problem with genesis and V4, so I honestly didnt' thougth much about it *smiles*

    Good morning Carola (smile)
I've been enjoying your characters and the hand posing looks very nice on all of them. This is just going to take some getting used to when I use Genesis2, but I am sticking to Genesis for the most part. I love my Cassini (V5) and Giovana (V4) too much to worry with Genesis 2 but I think I will get the product to convert V4 stuff to Genesis 2. Have you gotten that yet?

  • Carola OCarola O Posts: 3,823

I have gotten that, it works fine in my opinion. Some shoes causes a bit of trouble.. including the shoes from the http://www.daz3d.com/atardecer set. But a lot of other hsoes works for me atleast. Have to admit I didn't had much shoes and such for V4 yet (or much shoes at all truth to be told *laughs* was a certain LACK of shoes in my runtime *blush*)

all in all I am satisified with the converter, it seems to work fine wit ha few hitches. But than again.. life isn't without hitches so I can't expect everything else to work without it either *smiles warmly* It is in my opinion a product well worth to invest in

Thanks for the complimang, I tend to tweak my psoes quite a lot, well except when I am being lazy and don't tweak them much, or in the rare cases the pose works perfectly out of the box... as it actually did on the The Keeper of Snakes (http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24183/P30/#358162) picture I made, had to do some major tweaking on the snake to make it fit.. and trust me, you don't want to see how it looks from behind *laughs*

Over on this thread it was pointed out that on at least one of the default G2F poses the limits were turned off by default causing the fingers to bend drastically.

Double check limits are on and see if that helps your fingers.

I have several textures with a similar feel by this PA so skipped on this one but I might pick her up eventually.

    Seriously, now?

You post pictures of V6 with obviously completely mangled fingers. I reply with a formalized DAZ marketing blurb. -> I am taken seriously for the first time in my entire life.

What the hell is going on? People didn't even take me seriously, when I told them not to put metal in the microwave....and boy did they regret this....

My humor is just wasted on people!

It's called being diplomatic, lol. You have no idea how long it took me to compose a post that didn't state "Are you completely loco?" Glad to know you're among the sane...and next time I'll know what to expect from you! (smile. Wish they'd get the darned smilies working, this is stupid!)

Well, let's not overstate things here :D Anyway, I can only agree with you, those fingers don't look good at all.

Unfortunately, it'll be a while before I can test V6 for myself, so I can't really offer any insight into what's going on :/
