hello,
since a couple of days, the CMS keeps on falling down when i'm in DS so i need to quit the soft, lauch the Stop CMS routine in my windows menu, then lauch the Start CMS routine and get back in DS to be able to browse inside but after a few moments CMS content already disappeared so i need again to quit DS, etc...
currently running DS 4.6.0.18 on Win8
any idea of what could be wrong ?

Your database files may have become corrupted, but you could try this first.
Uninstall CMS from the Start menu, then reinstall DS4.6 and it will then install the latest versin of CMS for you. It is important to uninstall CMS first, or it will not be changed,. You can uninstall it from the same place that you Start and Stop CMS from.
hi Jimmy, thanks for the answer, i'll try this ASAP and let you know about it
I think that it may work as the datas in the DB are corrupt and uninstalling the CMS won't delete the DB. In case of, here is how you can do
First do a DB maintenance -> Save User Data then stop DS
Then you must browse at the folder where your Content Database is (should be C:\program Files\DAZ 3D\Content Management Service\databases if you didn't customise)
There you will find 4 files named ContentDB.xxx and one file called master.vdb. Move them or delete them.
Then you can start installing DS. It will recreate the Database automatically after that
Just to clarify some of this:
1) You only need to Export User Data if you've done your own custom categorization -- if you just use the metadata that comes with the products, you can skip this step.
2) You need to uninstall (or at least Stop) CMS before you can delete the databases.
3) Depending on which version of DS4 you first installed, the default location of the CMS databases may be in Program Files, Program Files (x86), or Program Data
Yup forgot a step. My hands don't typ as quickly as my head think
Are all those steps really necessary? I have been going to my content database folder, then zipping everything in there into an archive everytime I install something. Is that sufficient for backup?
You need to stop CMS before zipping them up, or they might get corrupted. I did that before 4.5, but I like having the plain text UserData backup, even though it takes longer.
Yeah I don't have it running unless I am working in carrara or daz. Maybe I will do it both ways, for more redundancy lol. Will have to see how long it takes for the export I guess.
Ok 2 minutes is not too bad at all, but where does it export to?
still have not found any time to try since i have to take care of my 5 kitten 10 weeks and all sick (cat flu)... but i'll try and let you know
Runtime:Support:UserData_1.dsx
well, it seems totally screwed... so i need to learn how not to use the smart content and have an empty product list and just get headaches to find where the damnit new stuff is located since almost all the products info pages are under construction...
i'll give later another try but i'm really tired yet
If you have used the default install locations, all of your Genesis and Genesis 2 figures will be visible in the Content Library > DAZ Studio Formats > My DAZ 3D Library > People > Genesis.
All of the earlier figures, V4, M4 etc etc , will be in Poser Formats > My DAZ 3D Library > Figures > DAZ People.
yes, those folders are the only folders that still work in my content library panel, but the Products list where you should find every items listed from A thru Z is totally empty :(
Product, Categories and Smart Content all rely on the CMS running.
So does the Search function in the Content Library pane too.
There was another thread where people had the same problem with CMS and they managed to get it working again
Have a look here http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24747/
