Cats style hair

I have need of a hair that would look similar to that used in the Cats musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Specifically I am trying to recreate Rumtumtugger for a birthday card for a little girl. It does not have to be perfect. The ruff, if it can be found would be nice as well. Since this will not be needed until August I am thinking a simple model around the neck with created hair using Garibaldi or LAMH would work for that but for the hair itself, I'd like an item I can just use as I may have need of it in the future.

I would say that was something that could be done with either the LAMH or Garibaldi hair plug-ins from the store.

Maybe one of the LAMH experts could do something like this and make it available in their collection of free hairstyles. You could then use the player to add it to your scene.

I've just started experimenting with LAMH so I'm not quite that good yet.

I remember a very old freebie morph for an equally old freebie prop hair that could be made to match several of the Cats characters, in a package with bodysuit textures (I think). It's been a while, though, and I've forgotten everything except seeing them in a freebie archive somewhere. The bodysuit stuff probably won't be useable on any modern figure, but it should be possible to make the hair fit with a bit of work. Anyone else with a better memory know what I'm talking about?

(What is it they say is always the first thing to go...?)

I too would love some Cats style hair, have been working on bodysuit textures for my own amusement for a couple of months now. I haven't tried it yet, but I was going to make some different colour textures for Silver Moon Hair (http://www.daz3d.com/silvermoon-hair) and stick some ears on it and see what that looks like. (my computer's being fixed at the moment so can't test this out)
I have LAMH but have yet to get to grips with it.

I don't know about LAMH the player is buggy and crashes all the time. Garibaldi could certainly do it, unfortunately it doesn't have a player yet, so you would need the whole thing

Silvermoon hair looks nice but not quite right unless the front part can be blended out with a transparency map.

TBH, and your opinion may be different and your mileage may vary, but DS is more unstable than LAMH player is.... Daz crashes for me, about 3 times a day on a GOOD day, 4-10 times on a normal to bad day. And sadly those days tend to be more normal....

It's possible I could make a cats hair preset, it doesn't look that complex, but you';d need a figure texture/body suit to match i suppose.

*goes back to fighting Daz Studio which has crashed for the 5th time tonight*

Nice, it's just a pity the wig doesn't have a fringe, as in the UK production most of the Cats had a fringe section

Yeah, there's a painted fringe on some of the makeup options, but not as part of the hair. Another hair could be added that provides fring, though, if the rest of that hair is short enough to hide under the cat wig or has separate mat zones so it can be made transparent.

Actually, given that you're specifically aiming for Rumtugtugger, you might want to look at this:

    http://www.daz3d.com/underground-king-m4

I think the promo image is using Hermes Hair. You could color M4's torso to match the main shirt and retexture the lace as fur (just add a finely striped transparency map).

When I suggested KitKat, I was thinking of Rumpleteaser. ;)

Nice. Like I said earlier I'm creating my own textures using the bodysuit though, so that's not a problem... might try with the genesis supersuit actually so I can get som fur on the shoulders... will test out various hair options again when I get my pc back - next Tuesday at the latest - so frustrating

    Just noticed this thread.

Actually, Garibaldi has a beta player called Garibaldi Basic. It works quite well but - alas - there is no library of presets for it yet. : (

I made this hair a few months back. Should be easy enough to comb out and shoulder hair would be simple enough.
