Resolutions to render at for printing?

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

Hi all,

Just a question for those "in the know" - If I wanted to be able to print my renders, say as A3 pictures, what resolution should I be rendering at to get high quality printouts?

Work out what pixels per inch you need (assuming this is for a poster you may not need more than 150 or 200, if you want an image that wills tand close scrutiny you might want 300) and multiply that by the paper size in inches (or the printable area of the paper). A3 is 11.67 by 16.5, roughly, and allowing for margins might drop to 11 by 16 - that would be (11*200) = 2,200 pixels by (16 * 200) = 3,200 pixels, for example, at 200PPI.

Cool, thanks. I had figured it was probably something like that but figured it seemed too "easy" and it must be more complicated than that. Excellent, thank you.
