Morphs made for Poser Hair doesn't work in DAZ (4.6)
First: I didn't ask the creator at all since it was written "Requirement: Poser, not DAZ tested nor supported" ~ But poser buyers were thankful & happy, so the prop works fine as it had been intended. And it wasn't mentioned explicitly "NOT for DAZ", as some products do.
I saw this awesome hair Cyber Goth Falls and couldn't resist, even if the creator mentioned it hadn't been tested for DAZ. Usually, the products work anyway - and when not, the problem lies with shaders (easy to replace in DAZ), or the mat poses don't work (meaning you have to fumble in the surface tab & texture it yourself). But it's doable and you can still use your product pretty good.
The textures and mat poses worked just wonderful!
What I didn't expect though was for the morph dials not to work. There are morphs for windy and movement, and adjust morphs, and what I'd need most: longer or shorter hair - the average hair morphs. I can push the dials up to 500%, not 1 pixel move, dead dial.
The hair prop (not a figure) was for V4, I first tried on Genesis, then V4 - no difference whatsoever. I even tried to transform it in a figure, no change.
Now, has anybody run into a similar problem with any prop made for Poser? Is there anything I can do? Any chance this is a DAZ 4.6 bug? Ideas, anyone?

I found a post on the old forums that say if the morphs were created in Poser using binary morph targets, that the morphs are written to a separate file that Daz can't read. The thread is 2 years old, but it may still be the case.

It takes a while to load, but it does load.
Thanks vaskania! Hmm.. from what I could read there - and in a few threads using this expression "binary morph target" I never heard about (but I'm still a noob) - this could very well be the explanation. There is this .pmd file in the runtime on the zip, guess this would be the external file then ~
Which means, since I'm not the creator nor do I have Poser.. that I can't change absolutely nothing myself.
If someone had Poser, and could re-save the prop for me with eeeh.. not-binary targets? Or rather, this option turned off - would this be possible? Remains that I don't know anybody with Poser *cough*. But in this case, if it's a service from 1 person to another (and I bought the product!), this wouldn't infringe on the author's right, would it? I could even ask them ~
That sounds as though it might be difficult to do legally. Contacting the vendor is the best way, but they have already given the disclaimer that it is not supported in DS.
contacted vendor, who said it was ok for my own use.
so, if someone having both poser & daz studio would help me there, i'd be grateful.
everything else by pm, included printscreen of answer if demanded!
If you have DS3 you could use an old plugin which is called injPMD to inject the morph then save it http://www.4shared.com/dir/4851309/fc76215/DS_Plugins.html#dir=E03-3f7D
I don't know if opening it in DS3 then saving it could make it work in DS4
PS why didn't the vendor do it as he has poser?
@Takeo: thanks for you help!
i did get the plugin, and installed it in DS3, and it installed well, visible in menu edit. so far so good.
the problem is, as i noticed later, this item is a prop - pp2 - and not a pz2 figure.. so when i browse from the plugin script, the file doesn't even show. and the plugin probably wasn't written for a pp2 anyway i suppose? btw, in the same folder, there is a pure pmd file too.
in your pdf, i saw the manual lines that could be added after making a .dsa file - even if it confuses/scares me a little. but i guess it would make no sense to create a .dsa file and edit it, since it's the same plugin...
probably the author is busy, didn't have time to bother with it.. the item isn't new either. and they did clearly mention on the product page "not DAZ supported".
it was already kind to allow me to find someone to transform the item for my own use, they didn't have to...
EDIT: i suddenly realized pz2 is a pose file. so under pose, i found many pz2, but they are only color variations of this prop. does it make sense to change all the color poses individually? the problem not being the colors, which work absolutely fine - but the morphs (dials) changing the lenght of the hair prop or adding movement ~
