Parenting items to David 3's hand

edited December 1969 in The Commons

Does anyone know how to fix the problem with not being able to parent anything to the hand of the David 3 figure? I keep trying to parent a sword to his hand but whenever I change his position, the sword does not move with him.

I haven't had that problem. What software are you using?

Please post a screenshot showing the parenting in the Scene pane

Here are the screenshots. Notice how the sword does not move along with his hand, even though it is parented to his hand. Yes, I know it says "right pinky" but it does that even when you select right hand, it still gives you right pinky. There's no way to make it say right hand. It always parents it to his pinky finger. You can select right hand over and over but it will always parent it to his pinky and never move along with his hand. What' s the deal with that?

First, it is parented to the hand. It just shows up under the the fingers. :)
As far as it not moving with David.. it looks like you still have the sword highlighted, meaning you're moving the sword, not David. Put the sword back in position and then select David and move him. Betting it will work just fine! wink

The sword isn't parented to David's hand, it's parented to the "hand" of the Achilles hair, which you then have parented to David (presumably because it's for M3 and so wouldn't conform). Since the figure is parented, not conformed, its pose won't match David's and so the "hand" stays put, and the sword with it.

Aha! You are right! It was parented to his hair/hand. I fixed it and now it works. THANKS!
